I always leave a substantial amount of leaf on my buds for various reasons:
1. I vape and after cure (or a 30-minute decarb in my Nova machine), the bud is always very smooth. One is vaping trichomes--not plant material (inhales during combustion).
2. Therefore, the more super sticky leaf that's left on, the better the bud trichomes are protected, and the more sticky stuff there is. LEAVES PROTECT THE BUD.

I’ve been wondering about this, Farmall and ATU! When my friend trims, he leaves a good bit of sugar leaf on. For my first harvest and trim, I took nearly ALL sugar off, but the buds looked kinda patchy and scruffy afterwards. I also think I lost a fair amount of weight. This time, I’m thinking I may leave a bit more on.
ATU, I was wondering the same thing about vaping. I only vape as well (I don’t care for smoking much), and I wondered if that helped negate the harsh effects of chlorophyll and vegetative matter. I wasn’t sure if it was only harsh if smoked or what. I did try a bowl of trim from my last grow in my Pax3. It was fine, actually. Slightly different flavor, but not harsh.
I’d never thought about the leaves protecting the bud, but they do! GWE website says it leads to denser nugs, too, which is a good thing in my book.

Thank you! I was pleased at the lack of larfy and tedious trimming I had to do, but I’ll be honest: I’d take my larf back if it meant getting a proper sized plant with a proper yield!
What I’m hoping is that I can learn to do both... I’d love to keep the plant structure from this grow, but also get big, healthy girls like you grow.

Also, farmall, I was blown away at how easy the wet trimming was. Soooo much less tedious than dry trimming. But at the time I had to make that decision, my RH was down to ~35%, so I opted for mostly a dry trim. Of course, I went out and bought a humidifier yesterday so now it’s more like 50%, but it’s too late to wet trim. The leaves are already oriented down and are getting dry.

I've only done wet trimming as I've found it to be easy for me, although sticky more and I use 2 sets of scissors. And if my suger leafs are really coated I trim close but leave fair amount of leaf on seems like a waste of good frost to me to not use.

I definitely noticed that wet trimming gets the scissors way stickier than dry trimming. I’ve got two sets of scissors, and I made two bowls worth of scissor hash. It tastes so damn good, but didn’t get me that high, to be honest.

Oh I hear ya about that s62 not getting real high. I've not grown but maybe 6 auto plants but that was my take so far. But i'm going to keep trying to find the 1 I know she's out there.

Supposedly six shooter is like 23% or something? But the hash didn’t feel that way. That being said, I like having a good daytime weed that helps me keep my head on straight enough to operate lol. We’ll see how the flower does!

I think once its cured you will love it. My wife always mixes six shooter in with whatever she is smoking. He favorite is six shooter and GG4. Her second favorite is Baked Alaska mixed with six shooter. She loves the way six shooter makes her feel, but it doesnt make her sleepy. That is why she mixes it. She gets the feel of the six shooter mixed with the sleepy time feel of things like GG4, Baked Alaska, or Alaskan Thunderfuck.

Actually, I leave any well coated sugar leaf in place as well. When it’s cured, it’s difficult to see so it does curl up and dry up in there. I have the Pax3 and use it For concentrate that comes out of the source. My humidity levels this time of year are around 40-50% so drying in those paper bags really seems to work nicely

I wonder if mine will be sleepier than yours? What % amber do you shoot for?

You’re using a Source Turbo to make cannabis oil, and then you’re using your Pax 3 to vape it?
That’s exactly what I want to try! I think I’m getting a Source Turbo sometime in the next few months. I’m definitely going to use it with trim, but I thought I might try some flower as well. Does it hit nicely in the Pax? How’s the flavor?

I went into a dispensary last night my outdoor summer is not as good as hoped do to all the weather issues cutting early barely cloudy blah blah not real good. I tasted " forbidden fruit" 1/2 gram preroll bought 4. Smoked 1 waited half hr. felt great relaxed. Smoked the other 1/2 gram doobie worked like a charm. No muchies just relaxed and sleepy. I'm going through seed sites looking at the varities of this strain now. I choose heavy indicas and I like blending with sativa strains like Jack Herer. Or just smoking the predomintly indica straight. Do not operate machinery under the influence of this weed, it is not for the weak smoker.

Yes letting it go more amber will add a sleepier effect. I cut her with just a few amber as I already have some super knock out smoke. But if you got to 30 plus percent amber it should have a knockout punch.

Day 75 Update
Crazy Crystal has been harvested! I’ll dump a few pics to tell the tale. Ultimately, she yielded 85g wet, so probably ~21g dry. Not quite an oz, but certainly more than I initially thought I’d get. I’m glad I held on to her. I look forward to this smoke quite a bit!

I did entirely wet trimming for this one. I’ve got a humidifier keeping my drying closet around 50% RH, so I figured a wet trim should be fine. It was just so obviously the answer. There weren’t a ton of fan leaves or sugar leaves to worry about; they were all pretty easy to pluck or snip. Much fewer leaves than my Six-Shooter. Lots of sugar on the sugar leaves... super rich trichome coating, but... I skipped them all off anyway. I left only bud this time, as it wasn’t hard to do. I snipped a LOT of sugar off, but hopefully it makes good extract!

Even as bud, she’s a strange one. Her buds are skinny and long, made up of fat calyxes stacked up, eventually leading to one or two fat calyxes at the tip. They are pointy too; looks like you could stab somebody! I bet when they dry, they’ll be particularly skinny! Also, I found loads of pink/purple trichomes once I had the buds off and under some light. Turns out, I think she aged nicely.

Ultimately, I’ll definitely be trying to grow this one again. The smell is OUTSTANDING, as I’m sure the flavor will be. I’m going to give it a slightly longer cure before starting it (~2 months), as I really want it to be flavorful and smooth. If trichome density is any indication of potency, this girl should be fire!

s62. That is just a really pretty plant... I have seen similar looking strains, Even what could be the same plant but it seems there is no name standardization as the hybridization expands exponentially. I hope it performs to your every EXPECTATION. That means, let us know how it turns out
