question about dry ice hash

Forgive me if this sounds naive. Does anyone out there make dry ice hash with decarboxilated starting material. I dont smoke my buds but rather make edibles. Seems like the consumability would be easier if the hash was already decarbed. I know this may seem like sacrilege ti some. Just wondering if anyone has any sage advice. Thanks in advance.....

I like this question and hope someone with knowledge comes along to answer. It does seem like it would be easier to decarb the trim, sugar leaves, etc in the oven and then make the hash if it going to be used for edibles. I have no idea if this is possible though.

Vaporize. You get the best of both worlds. 1. You get to enjoy the vaping. 2. Since through the process of vaping it is already decarbed. Use the remains for edibles.

No Title

Do sift first then decarb in my opinion for edibles. Amount of decarb depends on what edibles as in if you are baking cookies decarb less as baking decarbs also. A lot depends on what edibles

Yes, and I have found that consuming the vaped remains by just chewing them up (nice spicy flavor) gives me an really interesting and mellow high! 🌻

Yes, I remember reading on another thread, about using the remains of vaping for cooking purposes. Makes sense. Hubs can vap, and then I'll make my lollipops. Using the lollipop recipe that I have in mind, you don't stir in the hash until the end so It won't get a second decarb.

Thanks Royal Nugs ? 4 second gesture drawing... compelled to honor all plant aspects / processes for the girls and myself :-/

Thanks all for your advice. Still hoping someone who has actually done the decarb before making the hash will weigh in. I do respect all opinions and comments.

All I can say is if you have some to spare, experiment and give it a try. but like Tika said, it depends on what you are making. Cookies or brownies will decarb while baking. If you want to use it straight, like sprinkled on top of something then yea, you'd want it decarbed.

Maybe send a direct message to NebulaHaze, if anyone would know it would be her.

I am chewing on why you would want to decarb first? It is a lot more volume and longer time as far as I understand.
Just asking and curious
Good luck with your process:)

Yeah, i'm confused too. I don't understand why you'd want to decarb hash unless you plan on eating it. Not sure why anyone would want to do that. I would think oil would be the way to go...

Decarbing is only for edibles. If you're going to smoke or vape something it does not need to be decarbed because decarboxilation will happen when the matter burns from smoking or gets heated up during vaporization.

Buds naturally contain the inactive THCa, which turns into THC under heat, and THC is what causes the effects we're looking for.

If you don't decarb cannabis at some point before you eat it, you won't feel much of anything because it will stay THCa in your stomach, and it'll pass through without a whole lot of effects. If you decarb first you'll get THC delivered to your stomach and get the full effect.

As far as dry ice hash, it's pretty similar to dry sift in the end. You've basically removed all the trichomes without cooking them. If you're going to eat it afterwards, you need to cook it somehow, whether you make butter or oil, etc, or put the hash in candy or edibles.

If you don't want to make hash, you can make butter or oil straight from the plant matter.

I personally use straight plant matters when making edibles because you skip the step of making hash, but still strain out all the plant matter during the oil or butter making process. I make hash for sprinkling on bowls. However, straight hash gives you slightly different effects (whether smoking or eating) so it's fun to experiment with what you like best!
