Powder nutes for hydroponics

Gator got me thinking about switching to all powder nutes. I've been using Future Harvest which is an excellent line of products, but so many damn bottles and so much plastic! I've just looked at Reefertilizer and now I'm looking at Lotus nutes: any suggestions? Again: I grow hydroponically.
 
I have a question that has come up a few times. Years of testing, sure. All the right numbers, sure. 5-star reviews, sure. But what makes a product cannabis specific?
Articles I've read say different brands that have the same ingredients are basically the same thing. Store brand vs name brand, I guess.
 
I have no experience with hydro, but I think it could be done in a dwc, but maybe not in a rdwc, would it clog the circulation pump???
 
I messed around with powdered additives. I tried an essential elements powder, different limes and found that they were not really great when using a tank to fertigate from. Lots of sediment accumulated in the bottom of the tank even with the best mixing possible so I reverted back to liquids.

It didn't cause any issues though I just didn't think it was a great idea given the sediment build up in the tank.
 
I have used Jacks 321 for several years with good luck but I also add a variaty of supplements for the roots and I cant say enough good about the Fox Farm Soliable trio in flower at about 1/4 strength
 
I tried Mega Grow with much disapointment, and GH has a real basic dry nute, Grow and bloom that worked pretty well when I used it. Jacks is different as in after you see it starting to flower you switch back to the grow and I was surprised it worked but it did. Now at the flip I add the Open sesame at 1/4 strength, keep an eye on the PPM's and then add Bestie Bloomz annd finish with Cha Ching and I am real happy with the results, it was a long long road from Claire to here but worth it
 
I don't understand why all companies don't just sell the salts dry; it's such an obscene waste of plastic to have to buy all the liquid nutes. I will keep investigating, but I will prolly stick with Future Harvest: I've been using it with great success for a long time... Far superior to Advanced Nutes.
 
My understanding is the biggest selling nutes into the commercial grow sector are two pack dry nutes. You just alter the N pack, more in veg, less in flower.
 
That can work if you find something that has Cal/Mag in it. Epsom salt doest quite cut it as thje sole sourse even at twice jacks recomended dosage.I have to add cal/mag in veg, not so much in flower though. I started using Advanced Nutes when I started in DWC and at full dosage you will burn the hell out of your plants. Nute manufacturers tht instruct you to use more of their product than necessary suck, what a shitty way to sell yopur product
 
Allenpro I used Advanced Nutes for a couple of years, and nute burn was a problem; that was early on in my learning curve. I thought it was a horrible company whose marketing strategies were a turnoff.
 
The nutes I am using, the manufacturer has recently revised EC levels down marginally. Still way too high, but getting closer to the mark.

They also revised suppliment use and amounts.

At least they are listening to the growers.
 
alltatup I use the cheapest liquid nutes I can buy. Very very similar to the General Hydroponics in an A & B plus supps plus silica. I'm thinking of dropping the silica next grow on half the plants, see if t here's a noticeable difference.
 
I stopped using silca a years ago. I needed in the RDWC until I got that dialed in. The first couple of grows the stems were hollow and the Silca and a few other things fixed tthe problem. To be honest I dont use it now because I forget to add it first. If you grow in water I think its important
