Plant size/ what would you do.

My tent will accommodate 4 five gallon pots or 8 or 9 three gallon pots. What do you guys think is best; lots of small plants or fewer larger plants? I can make and support arguments for both and thusly am on the cusp of paralysis by analysis. I am leaning towards the larger plants but would enjoy your input.

I have done both. Smaller ones will get bigger but not as big as bigger potted plants. I prefer to grow less in bigger pots than more in little pots and still get a decent yield at harvest time. also space and grow height come into consideration. As of right now I have 2 in 5 gallon pots that take up the room of 4 smaller potted plants. And also depends on how you grow, LST, SCROG, etcetera...

I like big !! I like enormous !! I like gigantic !! Ok putting this foolish comment aside I always did my grow with the 5 gallons type but then I always did the photos type. So if you are doing the photo beans do the 5 gallon ones, But I'm sure some did it in the 3 gallon pots.

I chose to do 8 big plants in a SOG style, instead of 16 small pots.

mainly because if I have 16 pots, and some is drinking less or more. Eating more nutrients than others. I need to make a water for more plants if they don’t want the same. This was my argument, when I was discussing with myself

I have done both 3 and 5 gallons in my tent. The 5 gal get bigger but take a little longer to fill out, especially with the lst that i do to widen the plant. That is the only difference imo when discussing pot size. It really depends on how long you want the grow to be. If you are running low and dont have a way to get more (like i am sometimes) then you could grow smaller plants that take less time in veg, but if you have the time my vote would be on the 5 gallons. I have flowered freshly rooted clones in solo cups when i was running low. Only gets you like a quarter of dried bud per plant but cuts almost a month off of grow time and i can do like 8 plus two 5 gal plants at the same time in the same tent. Hopefully this makes sense lol.

Growing time is not the issue as Indica does take approximately from seed to harvest 8 weeks vegging and another 8 - 10 weeks until harvest. Sativa on the other hand does take longer, 8 weeks vegging and 10 - 12 weeks in flower until harvest. I have done experiments on vegging time and found that 8 weeks was optimum (even though it has been said Sativa does not need such a long veg time) but this is what I have done in the past 15 grows... and have had decent yield amounts. Here are my most recent 2 I have going now in 5 gallon pots:
