Plant dark time importance

Yeah... ok. So you claim the build up of the hormone increases yields. There has to be a threshold otherwise we'd be growing in the dark right? There's going to be diminishing returns for this. What makes you think the threshold exists at 10/14? Why not 8/16 or 4/20?

Do you have any evidence to support this?

Please keep theses absurdities to yourself...

My dearly beloved Green, why is it an absurdity to run your lights at 11/13? I did this the last 2 weeks of my grow. I was told or maybe I read it somewhere that this MAY make them ripen a bit faster. MAY being the operative word.

Yes. I do. RM3 could probably explain it better to you. Like, I dunno what what to tell you, man. I thought I broke it down pretty plainly for you. My plants are two weeks in flower, under 241w of light, and I've pretty much proven I know what I'm doing. If you want to do what you want to do, do you, but don't try to make me look foolish, because everything I said has been taken directly from the sciences of botany and horticulture.

I suppose just watch my grow, and when my yield makes your jaw drop, maybe you'll get it then. All you have to rebut with is "I don't believe you." And I'm not going to explain it to you if you aren't willing to listen.

For some reason, I thought this would spark a debate....

Voodoo, I understand how the flowering cycle is induced. I'm not seeing any evidence supporting your greater yield claim, though. Perhaps you can spell it out for us neanderthals :p

I know that plants stretch more in the darkness but that just results in taller plants. Not necessarily more yields. I'm glad 10/14 works out for you. Barring proof that a shorter light cycle increases yields, I'll be sticking to my 12/12. More light = more energy = more yields seems simple and straightforward to me.

I've heard of utilizing an 11/13 flowering cycle to accelerate ripening, to bring out phenotypic expressions, or just to conserve energy. I've heard claims that it increases yields too but proof is in the pudding. I ain't seen no pudding yet... :)

Help me out here.

Ok, I made above post and then read this. That is exactly what my premise was for going 11/13 last two weeks........not to get a bigger yield, but I thought it might speed up the ripening process a bit. Only did it because we were kind of on a time deadline that was fast approaching.

One more comment from me. We even covered up the little indicator light on the dehumidifier and on the power strip.....just to be on the safe side. Why take a chance?

Fair enough. I won't ask you to explain it anymore. I'm not trying to make you a fool, I'm simply trying to understand your theory. Sorry I don't understand it. I always considered myself fairly intelligent and open minded. I guess I should reconsider... I'm trying to understand what you're saying. I AM listening to you. You obviously think I'm here to be an ass. I assure you I am not.

The only one making you look foolish is yourself.

I disagree. I am backing my shit up with both information as well as demonstration of my experience, whereas your only rebuttal is "You're lying! That's not what I heard!"

Out of all 5 grow sites I am a member of, it seems that this site is the most behind on in-depth information. All I'm trying to do is help. You can take it or leave it, but I'm not going to stop helping this site's knowledge base improve just because you don't like what I have to say.

I'm not trying to be rude to you, but I'm flat-out breaking down how plants work on a hormonal level, and for some reason, you're acting like it doesn't make sense despite being pretty lucid and detailed. You can either do a run in 11/13 or 10/14 yourself or what what happens to mine in about 7 weeks.

Don't forget about moonlight in nature. Indirect, dim light should be ok. But like you said, why risk it?

You have an interesting way of putting words in people's mouths. You've lost all credibility as far as i'm concerned. Good day, sir.

Maybe to you, but I think my plants speak for themselves. So, I don't care if you find me credible. "Good day."

I've made this point before. Moonlight isn't moonlight, it's reflected sunlight. People also forget that outdoor plants are exposed to flashes of lightning, as well as daytime storms which don't allow for proper light exposure.

I was just going to let it go, but you are probably the most pompous user I've met here so far. You talk like what you say should mean something to everyone, and it doesn't. Least of all to me.

Now, I invite you and anyone interested to watch the results, and if you see something you like, l would be more than willing to teach you guys a few things more. Just watch what happens with my grow and you will see everything I say adds up.

No Title

Royal Nugs Here's your puddin' at 2 weeks old. I also want to point out that if I hadn't proved it to you, you never would believe that 241w does that what it's doing there to two plants.

There is nothing to judge Nugs. I always had the upmost respect for Green. I don't know where this is coming from. Peace.

Sorry, not going to feed your troll-like attitude. I won't be responding to you anymore. Have a great grow! I wish you success, honestly.

This thread has been derailed... sorry for my involvement in that.
