Plant dark time importance

I called it absurd because it's going to bring up all kinds of new topics and threads and questions for what reason people can barely water their plants without killing them I'm all for tricks and trying to manipulate plants go for it more power to you but you king pissing contest you're so stuck in your ways you can't even suggest to a guy that's got yellowing leaves on the bottom of his plant to cut them off and you are surrounded by threads that people are defoliating their plants with great success....so you know all is well to each their own.....
 
9fingerleafs is showing information about actual grower experience that shows the use of MORE than 12 hours of light, which experiments show does work. I am counting on Bad Voodoo to educate me on using LESS than 12 hours of light to increase yield.
 
Don't worry. I will. You can use IR/Far Red 10 minutes after lights-out to push the plant into flower. However, I'm asserting that my 10/14 time signature will work just as well, if not better, and with less stress, because I'm not forcing it to do anything in an unnatural or forceful way. As I said, the flowering hormone is light sensitive. 10 hours is enough for the plant to collect the nutrition, energy, and resources it needs during the day to produce what it does at night.
 
I simple asked you to site your source, so I could learn from your experience. If you can not do that, then fine, I will just ignore the information you posted. I don't question your honesty, I simply question your hypothesis.

Nah man all good..they look great...your just going to flip people's minds out...that's all I meant...how many different bulbs do you have?
 
No bulbs, they are 3 COB emitters, two of which are driven at 78w, the last one is 85w. I'm putting out about the PPFD of a 600w HPS with only 241w used by the lights. 270 with fans included.

Dude. Just google Cannabis phytochemicals and flowering hormones. There are so many sources, it would be redundant for me to do such easy work that you could do for yourself. If you REALLY WANT ME TO, I will find an explanatory article for you.

Furthermore, it says in the first slide I posted in this message, auxin produces growth on the SHADED SIDE and in the middle slide, it says the FLOWERING HORMONE IS DEGRADED BY LIGHT.

For some reason, I thought this would spark a debate....

Voodoo, I understand how the flowering cycle is induced. I'm not seeing any evidence supporting your greater yield claim, though. Perhaps you can spell it out for us neanderthals :p

I know that plants stretch more in the darkness but that just results in taller plants. Not necessarily more yields. I'm glad 10/14 works out for you. Barring proof that a shorter light cycle increases yields, I'll be sticking to my 12/12. More light = more energy = more yields seems simple and straightforward to me.

I've heard of utilizing an 11/13 flowering cycle to accelerate ripening, to bring out phenotypic expressions, or just to conserve energy. I've heard claims that it increases yields too but proof is in the pudding. I ain't seen no pudding yet... :)

Help me out here.
 
In the source you site, I do not see scientific evidence that less light equals more bud. I will go through it again.

I'm having a hard time believing you thought this would go off without a hitch. You're not providing the evidence substantiated by your claim. More dark, more buds. Right?
 
Stay calm, keep an open mind.

People should be able to make claims, that's how we learn from each other. When it's met with name calling and closed minds, progression comes to a screeching halt.

Can't we all just get along?

More dark, more buds, because more flowering hormone production, which can't occur during the light. Why is this so difficult for you guys to understand? Of course you still need light, hence 10 hours. See, the light causes an upward negative pressure which brings nutrients up into the plant from the rhizosphere for it to be used over time for production. The actual flowering work is done at night, during the release of the flowering hormone. This is common knowledge, guys.

Like, there is more proof out there. It also allows for proper growth due to auxins being allowed to freely effect all growth tips, because it doesn't have to worry about shying away from the light, because there is no light present.

Also, show me one place where the Fall and Winter bring 12 hours of daylight, besides the equator.
 
Man I love the talk. Now I've got more experiments to run than days left in my calendar. Maybe Santa will bring me a new tent.
So here's my next question: If it is just a matter of growth hormone levels going up in the dark and being used up in the light, does that mean Autos make the hormone even in the light?
