Peanuts!

Greetings from Asbury park I'm a dirt farmer from jersey who tried something new I put packing peanuts in the bottom of my pots for drainage much lighter to move around and works just as well as stones if not better. I know there not bio degradable but I get them from packages I get on line and hate to put in trash only to go to the land fill and stay forever. Try to recycle. Peace

Interesting idea. I've heard of using a layer or perlite or hydroton on the bottom but never packing peanuts. Hope it works out!

I have two big black garbage bags full of packing peanuts. What to do with them? Bottom of bucket!! Sounds like a great idea

As long as they don't degrade in water, it would seem to be ok. I guess we have some guinea pigs

Yeah some peanuts are actually biodegradable so make sure those aren't the kind you have. I remember there used to be "edible" packing peanuts but dont know if they still exist. By edible i mean they dissolve in your mouth...not that they taste good. Ahh college...

I never heard of packing peanuts that dissolve in your mouth. Jeezus, college kids will eat anything LOL

I use them with all my pots and all different plants very good for moving planters around and been doing so for years and better drainage peace
