Curious anyone's experiences and feedback on using a spin manual or auto trimmer. I got this one for x-mas, and I'm super excited; but curious how well it works and hoping I don't lose my trichomes in the process. I'll catch the trimmings and use it for other products, but I don't want the quality of the buds either.

I have the same trimmer and I use it for all of my mid and lower buds. I always hand trim my tops. It works well as long as you remove all of the leaves with longer stems first. I spin 15 rotations clockwise, 15 rotations counter clockwise, and finish with 15 rotations clockwise again. It will knock off some trichomes but I tend to believe the idea of trichomes being knocked off is over blown. I’d say 80% of the trichomes are inside the buds and those are safe. If you’re using the trim for other purposes you can “rinse” the bowl with everclear to dissolve what gets stuck to it. I can have 4 plants worth of mid’s and lowers processed in 2 hours, totally worth it.
 
It comes with blades for fresh and dry trimming. I personally prefer to do my trimming when the buds are freshly chopped so I’ve only used the fresh trimming blades.
 
Which blade is considered fresh vs dry ?? One is just a straight blade, and one is serrated..

I usually do a weird mix of dry + wet trimming... I wet trim the major fan leaves, and most of the major sugar leaves. Then I hang dry the entire plant (all stems still attached to main plant), then dry trim the rest after most of drying is done and I'm going to start curing.

I was assuming I would be using this trimmer during my dry trim stage, but not sure which blade to use?

BTW... the quality and craftsmanship of this trimmer is top notch! I've been SO happy with every piece of equipment I've purchased from iPower.
 
Interesting contraption. Looks like it might work. But a $345 price tag for a product made for the average home grower? IDK.
 
I used one this summer, loaned from a friend. I loved it. Trimmed my buds wet, as already mentioned, remove all the fan leaves and large sugar leaves before using.

15 turns to the right, 15 turns to the left. Warning, turn the handle very slow. You don't want your buds to pile up in one another, this will give you a bad trim. I try and make a turn last about 5 seconds. More advice. Don't overload it. More is less.
