Obi-Wan’s Jedi OG Grow

Day 43 and growth has been on the slower side with my temps being as low as they are, but it should warm up soon. After 35 days of hand watering I got fed up and installed a flood tray and reservoir. I transferred them to 1 gallon fabric pots and they are now watered every 12 hours in the Flood & Drain system. The plants seem happier and I’m absolutely thrilled to be done with hand watering!!

Day 50 of this grow and I couldn’t be happier with the new system. After checking the EC at midweek, I topped off the reservoir with 4 gallons of fresh water. Today it got 5 gallons of nutrient solution at 1.4 EC. All plants received a defoliation at midweek as well.

So jealous

I wanted a flood table but, space, light, $$ limitations, only allowed for DWC

I still want a flood table (and the DWC, and learn coco, and win a billion dollars, really should do that first)

Are you going to up pot, or finish them in the 1g?

I got a buddy, SoGs in a 5x5 tent, with a 4x4 flood table and 1g fabric pots, he isnt flooding, he fertigates 3 times/day with 5 minute bursts (he wants a better timer, for more bursts, less burst duration)

I chose to build my light with 4 of the HLG-QB132 boards rather than using the QB288’s. I sacrificed intensity for better spread. I get more uniform light all around my tent with these boards and it saved me a little $$ on the build because they don’t require a heat sink. But to answer your question, I love my light. I’m building another for my 3x3 to replace the 400w hps.

Day 9 of 12/12. I took clones from all 11 plants prior to the switch and I’m still waiting to confirm sex. I believe I have 5 females and 6 males but I want solid confirmation before I cull any of the suspected males.

Day 15 of 12/12 and sexing is complete. I culled 5 males and was left with 6 females. I gave them a healthy defoliation 2 days ago and added a trellis net to gently spread the branches a bit wider. I’ll be adding a second trellis net to help control their stretch. The reservoir was switched out for bloom nutrients this morning. EC is set to 1.5 and the pH is 5.7. My light is now turned up to 250 watts and my lights on temp is a much happier 73F.

Sounds like you have everything under control. Happy bunch on the grow.

I’m glad it sounds like I have everything under control. It’s my first run with regular seeds and it’s been an experience to say the least. I was hoping to sex the plants before flower but I just couldn’t determine for sure male from female. I had my hunches and I was fairly close but there were at least 4 plants that fooled me. In the end I’m glad I waited until flower to cull plants. I’m so much happier when I’m just a cloner!!

Day 22 of 12/12 and I’ve had to do a little gentle bending to keep the girls from getting too vertical. I didn’t super-crop any of the branches, just gently pulled and tied them down using the trellis as an anchor for the ties. I’ll be adding the second net tomorrow once they’ve all turned themselves back up to the light.

Day 30 of 12/12. I decided against the second layer of trellis, my training ties seem to be holding up well through the stretch and making minor adjustments to them just feels easier than fighting the plants into another net.
pH is 5.9
EC is 1.6
Light is at 275 watts and 18” from the canopy

I reconfigured how my fan attached to the pole, it just looks cleaner and works better now. I did a slight defoliation this morning, below are the pics before the defoliation.

Day 54 of 12/12, it’s been a few weeks since my last update but the girls are coming along well. EC is down to 1.1 and the lights are down to 225 watts. Harvest is planned for June 1st for this opening run. From the 6 females I’m running clones of 4 selected pheno’s in my 3x3 for a better look at individual traits.

Jedi OG #2-Located in the back left of the tent, displays typical OG bud structure and internode spacing. Nice top cola with dense golf balls forming underneath. Good lateral branching during Veg, almost no lateral branching during the flowering stretch. Trichome production is slightly above average. Rubbing a sugar leaf opens up typical OG gas fragrances with subtle citrus undertones.

Jedi OG #3-Located in the front left of the tent, displays typical OG bud structure and spacing but with slightly undersized lower buds. Lateral branching continued through the flowering stretch. Average trichome production that smell of straight fuel.

Jedi OG #5- Located back center of the tent. Good bud structure, almost no lateral branching with undersized lower buds. Smaller plant with below average flowering stretch. Dense buds from tops of colas to just below the trellis net. Above average trichome production with distinct lemon pledge aroma.

Jedi OG #4-Located front right of tent. Good bud structure with dense but undersized lower buds. Lateral branches stretched to the top of the canopy during flower. Average trichome production with a predominantly fuel smell.

Jedi OG #1 & #6 both display lighter density buds from the top colas down to the trellis net. Their clones were discarded.
