Ok so this isn't really about growing but.. anyway about 3-4 years ago my wife worked for hand an stone spa or whatever in pa, her boss is a dick an kept given her bad references cause he didn't want her to leave, so she ended up getting an investor an opening her own place , now apparently shortly after she left someone broke in an stole something I dunno what... apparently money I guess.. so a few weeks ago 2 detectives show up at my door asking questions,. In Delaware .. whatever whatever.... I was respectful an answered all questions because I have nothing to hide (except what's in my shed) lol cause I didn't do it... then when they were leaving they asked if I would come in for an interview an take a polygraph... I said sure fine I have nothing to hide... but thinking about it.. just seems weird.. this is something from 3-4 years ago.. an seems like there try in to get me to come to pa... I dunno for what.. does this seem sketchy to anyone else...? Should I tellem to fuxk off or just go do it

Sounds pretty suspicious. Why wasn't it properly investigated years ago? It would have been reported immediately, if they didn't have any solid leads then I doubt they would return to a break in case years later over a bit of money that should have been covered by insurance. It's not a murder cold case!
If you're not required to do it then don't do it. A polygraph seems pretty extreme.
They might try to sneak some off topic questions in there to see if they can dig up any other dirt on unrelated matters. If you do go and can afford it get some legal representation to go with you to keep the cops in line.
As for the bad references here in Aus if an employer gives a false bad reference they could be sued for defamation.

Here in the States, and employer can only say when you were hired and when employment ended, nothing else. Of course you can get a letter of recommendation but they can NOT make any disparaging remarks. Were they PA or local cops? Sounds fishy. Like OzBud said, they could and do ask "unrelated" questions to form a baseline on polygraph. After your polite responses to their questions at your door I would not offer any other information without court order. If they contact you again, politely tell them you want your Attorney present!

I can't afford an attorney right now.. an I 100% didn't have anything to do with it.. I think ima tell to fuxk off tho cause seems to me like there just tried to pin the shot on anyone at this point.. it's been 4 damb years since it happend... an I was gonna do the polygraph until I started thinking about it... there only about 70% accurate an are more a fear detector then anything so they could say I did it just because I'm nervous ...nah fuxk that.. ill talk to them cause whatever I didn't do it.. but I'll b damned they pin this shit on me.. I don't do shit like this for just this reasom!! I dont wanna go to jail.lol prolly get in more troy le for whats grow in but whatever that's not the point lol

Look at local law schools they often times they have clinics which provide pro bono representation to people who cannot afford one. If the police come back just say you will not speak to them without one. Be polite but firm, watch the video it explains a lot and even has a police officer agree.
