My Holiday Card to You

this is on topic: the parade is held in Austria. It's a pre-Christian Alpine (Austria) tradition to "keep the evil winter spirits away". Seidel
Pass...Perchlen Lauf...
as an artist I found this overwhelmingly beautiful. I send this pagan parade as a gift to protect your plants thru the winter

hope the link works :)

REALLY BEAUTIFUL!!! They remind me of Buddhist "wrathful dieties" who fear nothing--especially not death. AND... your drummers look like big fat buds!!!!!!!!!

Right: it's the darkest, gloomiest time of year, we need protection from all those grumpy shoppers out there!! You notice how hostile so many folks can get at this time of year? All of these ancient rituals are linked, I believe: lighting the candles for Hannukah, the star guiding the wise men to Bethlehem, these lovely pagans drumming away evil spirits, and my own personal favorite: vapeing herb to chase away my fears of Trump!!!!

Yes I saw that insom. There are several out there. I looked a few on how the headdresses and costumes are made. Still trying to find what plant is used. The gathering of plant material/assembly looks like a bunch of bud trimmers in Humboldt County ( but they are dressed :)) thanks for the link

"Decide whether to be honest. If it becomes impossible the ignore the "don't you love it" or "won't you use it" moment in the gift-giving process, you'll either need to give it to them straight or offer a white lie. If you choose to speak plainly, try to demure and be as conciliatory as possible, provided this gift was an honest mistake and not purposeful jab at your interests or beliefs. And if you lie, lie small"

Let me begin my three part apology by saying what a wonderful human being...In all seriousness I am really sorry. If I was going to pick a religion it would be pagan for sure. So peace and all that. You seem like a really sweet person. So I hope7your solstice celebration is a festive one. Peace.

No apologies necessary
again: I meant no ill will nor comment about belief systems. I simply thought it was a beautiful procession of history and talent and i elected to gift it
just that simple.
:)

Tika. I am pure Heathen. Pagan at heart. My family goes back many generations honoring the Old Ways! Blessed be to you and yours! Merry we meet and Merry we shalk part! Be safe this season. May the frost giants sleep soundly!!

Somehow missed this post. I know you like Gargoyles and such, I'm mostly unfamiliar with all this stuff. Is it like a wicken (spelling?) type thing? Like druids and wards? Pagan? Forgive my ignorance.

LOL..although it appears I put my stick into the caldron i in no way intended ( for at least the 5th time) any religious whatsoever...I thought it a beautiful event, more like a caveman etching the moon cycles on a bone, and as Nebula stated if it gets an emotional response....well there ya go. My intent was wishing all well, people coming into or just doing harvest (Green75, Lotus, etc) .
Not apologizing...by any means. For those who enjoyed it my mission accomplished. And I am delighted that you did :) and thanks for saying.
As a past attorney once said to me " not everyone thinks like you do Tika"...well noshitsherlock!
I wish everyone well.

Psh...nothing to forgive...
A good parade & in
Simply that.my mind it has a function, I extended the function...
Meant as a successful grow and harvest, warding off the evils of winter by costume & discord. Also I appreciate the art work involved

This may be going a little off topic, but heck, unless things get out of hand, maybe Neb and Sir will allow it. I was brought up in a fundamental born again Christian Baptist church. Talk about strict! I deserted that first change I got (turning 18). As I age, I find that my mind and my soul are becoming more and more open to new ways of thinking, new ideas, more understanding of ALL the differences in all of us. We are all part of the human race and I love hearing and learning about new cultures, rituals and the such. I like the 58 year old me much more than the 34 year old me.

And yes, those drummers look like big fat giant BUDS! The (music) was indeed a cacophony, but that is the point, to chase away evil spirits from spoiling the winter crops.

I think Tika's video has stirred a lot of emotion in all of us! I feel protected by the rhythm and the fierce passion of those big drumming buds. They are out there protecting us and our plants from all sorts of threats (see the "I read the news today oh boy" thread).
