My first grow: Gorilla Glue #4

It will be interesting to see what those eggs are. I follow those things in my outdoor veggie garden, but haven't seen those before.

You don't have to wait long J , posting the next week of my grow right now. Camp, I may have google image searched them. I wouldn't let just anyone lay eggs on my girl.

Week3 Flower: Lights at 16", R/B/W spectrums @100%. Temps 70-80, RH 55-75%, except 1 day I forgot to turn exhaust fan on, came home to a 88F, 90% RH tent. Ouch. Fed 2-2.5g of GH "mid-bloom" with b-care root+ and cal-mag, alternating pH20 every 3rd watering (2-3 days btwn waterings).

The stretch and new bud sites was crazy. My 'mystery eggs' hatched into little Gila Monsters... juvenile ladybugs. No surprise as I put one in there less than a week before. Unfortunately the 3 juves I saw crawling around couldn't keep my aphids at bay while I was away for a few nights. More on that next week...

2nd to last day of Week3 flower (day 19 flower) I pulled 20-30 leaves to improve light penetration/air flow. I used these leaves and previously picked leaves to make butter, and yes, the resulting cookies and brownies did the trick! Very surprising, but look at the trichs starting on the leaves in week3! Considered adding a 2nd SCROG but didn't need to yet.

I think I'd cut the edge off of that leaf, and put it and those eggs in solitary confinement. A Plantosaurus might come outa one of those damn eggs. It's good to experiment, but in a controlled environment.

Alright, you have caught the journal up to exactly where my girls are now... Day 21 of flower... And looking very similar stage of growth. Excited to see the next few weeks!

Week4 Flower: Lights kept around 16-18" from tops, 100% on r/b/w dials, with red bloom light, all 12/12. Temps 70-80F, RH 55-75. Feeding GH 'mid-bloom' mix, with calmag and root+ added. 2.25g every3rd day, with plain phd water every 3rd feed. Added 2nd fan (oscillating), on bottom of tent facing up towards canopy.

I was away for 2 nights, came back and killed 10 more aphids on back branches, away for 2 more nights and they were worse. Since I was well into flower formation I wanted something safe to spray. Continued using alcohol/water mixture directly on buggy branches while researching more effective techniques. Now I know to use the heavy artillery at first sign...

Trichome production on the plant starting to go crazy. Sugar and fan leaves, stems all with trichs. Smell changing a bit (and getting stronger), I wish I had taken better notes on the smell. Despite the bugs I was super happy with growth and I think I had the nutes and feed schedule dialed in. Watering under the filled in SCROG was a huge pain. Watering can no longer did the trick, so I fashioned a funnel/hose/showerhead that I'd poke through the canopy and SCROG. Definitely looking to upgrade my watering system for grow#2.

Week5 Flower: Temps 70-80F, RH getting higher in flower now, 60-75%. Lights @100% r/b/w spectrum, 16-18" above center of canopy. Fed GH 'late bloom' mix with calmag and root+, 7gal coco needs 2.5 to 2.75gal each time now. Halfway through week I defoliated most lower and outer fans, and inner facing fans to increase light penetration/airflow.

Aphids were getting worse as a result of being away 4days/nights in week 4 and not nuking them yet. Kept spraying OH/water mix every other day before lights out, crushing more aphids. Removed a few "sooty" leaves and that was the last straw. I ordered Azamax and drenched soil and did localized foliar spray (7mL in 0.5g) on last day of week (day 35 of flower). Not crazy about spraying stuff on the buds, but its better than critters. Anyway, buds getting bigger, with a rosy tint. Trichs literally everywhere, and calyxes popping up. I seriously glued my forearm hair together a few days before work while defoliating, had to wear long sleeves from here on out!

I think around this point the smell went from pleasant "weed" to a stronger fuel and sour smell. For the first time I smelled her outside through the filter/exhast. Ordered a dehumidifier to give the filter more of a chance (and keep the RH below 70 for rest of flower.

Looking awesome!
Good to know they can handle high humidity in flower, but that hasn't been a problem for me so far.
I love seeing pictures of the future!

yea the fuel smell. I open my door to the room with the tent and it hits you pretty hard. The door to the basement it’s noticeable. I’m not using any filters though.

I have a carbon filter. Have not smelled a thing outside the tent so far (I don't vent outside, just into my office [where I try to actually work...]). But they don't smell like fuel at all yet... So, I have what about a week left before gas masks?

Apologies for the absence. Work, life and skiing keeping me away from the computer (not a bad thing)....

Week6 flower: Temps 70-80, RH% 70+ so I got a small dehumidifier and added to the room the tent was in, reducing to ~60%. Lights at 18", 100% r/b/w dials. Fed 2.75g of GH "late bloom" mix twice this week, watered once.

Aphids were still an issue on some of the branches, sprayed foliage with AzaMax solution on days 37, 40, 42 and pulled a bunch of leaves. Did a 10mL/g (2gals total) AzaMax drench for my watering, forgot to check pH though :\ Noticed some nute burn at beginning of week, so I reduced the 2nd feeding to half strength. Ordered B-care Sweet Raw and added to my waterings. Last day of week 6 (day42) I decided to start her flush since I had to chop her by day 66 (weeklong vacation to California).

Buds were certainly getting chunkier, all pistils were brown by now. Super funky smells now, the carbon filter stood no chance. My red bloom light, which had a narrow-ish beam, was visably ripening the center colas it was hitting a little faster than the outers. Moved it up a bit more, but no real concern.

Week7 flower: Temps 73-78F, RH 52-60% thanks to dehumidifier added outside of tent. Moved lights up 2" to ~20" and turned off red bloom light since some center colas looked to be bleaching (or ripening too quickly) as a result of their extra exposure). Done with nutes, except for adding GH SweetRaw to my ph water (2.6g watering every 3 days). Saw some tips that looked a bit like nute burn, but not worried since I was going to flush soon. Last day of week7 (flower day49) the fans looked a bit lighter green in color, the start of the fade!? Some of the more ripe buds began to show some purples (thanks to LED I believe)!

Still dealing with aphids on lower branches and fan leaves :( Sprayed AzaMax solution on buggy stems and under almost all leaves, which kept them at bay. At this point though, I had flown the 747 across the ocean and it was just time to put her down gently... if that makes any sense ;)

Looking frosty and delicious! How is the smell?
Are you counting flower weeks from the flip to 12/12 or from the first sign of pistils? Just want to be able to compare development with mine.
What is your harvest day expectations? - thinking about Nute transition issues myself...
Damn aphids...

Hey Campesino , I don't have it in my notes for that week, but the fuel smell was pretty strong, and my carbon filter was able to do a better job once I got the RH down from 70+. Flower weeks/day#s start at the flip, yes. Having spoken to a buddy who has grown GG4 many times I was aiming for 65-75 days of flower before the chop. Unfortunately I had a weeklong vacation in dreary San Diego that mandated my harvest happen at day66 so I could get them in jars and to a buddy to start the drying/curing process while away. I have 2-3 more posts and my journal will be complete.

Looking at your GG4s and I see your pistils have yet to darken. Looking back at my pics I see that between days 29-33 of flower my pistils went amber (almost all of them). I'd say that is the main difference from mine to yours, other than you managed the stretch perfectly, have way more bud sites and fuller looking early flowers! My early maturation might have something to do with my bloom light, which I'm not 100% sure I'd use again.

FishCityFunk_ I just finished a grow and had one strain ( Wonder Dawg) that looked very similar to your Gorilla Glue #4_ same purple looking buds but mostly greenish leaves.
Cheers for an awesome harvest! Hope the aphids don't get your girls. Looks like they should be ready soon.

Right now I'm into week three of growing a strain that has some Gorilla Glue genetics_ Its named "Glueberry OG"_ Gorilla Glue, Blueberry and OG Kush.
Looking forward to this one for sure!
Cheers to all at GWE!

FishCityFunk
I find it so hard to remember that reading your journal is looking into the past - please take no offense
Thanks for your complements!
Yes, all my Pistils are still very white at the end of Flower day 37. I think I am pretty much on schedule, and am sure to use a scope to check trichomes before chopping. I have been concerned about timelines the last few days as I am starting my next run in a humidity dome and sort of need the timing to work out well between the two runs. But I am already popping those seeds, so at this point its just wait and hope and see.
Looking forward to your final few posts!

Week8 flower (days 50-56 of flower): Temps 75-78, RH50-56%, lights @ 18-20". Because of aphids I did a 12mL/gal strength AzaMax flush (2.75g) on day52. Watered (pHd spring water for flush) on days 54 and 56. Leaves starting to show some fade and buds getting a bit more purple. Defoliated between colas to increase airflow and light to lower branches.
