MrGreen's OG Kush Photo Grow #3

Greetings everyone,

So this is Grow #3...OG Kush Photo. I planted her 2 weeks ago and already I've had to cut off 2 huge fans! I also forgot to change my bulb to the 400W MHS before I started, but she seems to really enjoy the 400W HPS...so, I'll leave it for now. I got her bent and tied up nicely...we'll see how she responds in a couple of days. I fed her today with GH Flora Trio plus CaliMagic and KoolBloom, Phed to 6.0. Temp is around 75 and humidity is at 50%. I like what I see so far. I also planted 2 more seeds today. I don't expect much from them, though. My last batch of seeds have been under-performing to say the least. I'll hpe for the best though.

It's kinda wild to watch the way all the branches on the bottom grow straight up to the sun when tied down I live down South USA and that's how we always did them outdoors mainly to keep them from being seen ,sometimes they would be 4or5 feet tall or even taller before we would bend them over and stake them down. We would come back a couple of days later and all the branches would be growing straight up.,kinda funny looking but they made some awesome bud later. Good Luck 23

Hey family,

So it's Day 31 and...look at her showin off! I haven't trimmed her since my last post. At this point, she's telling me to let her do her thing for a while, so I'll listen...for now lol! I think I'll let her grow for a couple more weeks before I change the light schedule. O and did I mention that she's been under the HPS this whole time? (I forgot to change it) She is also on a 20/4 schedule. Hey, she seems to like it, so I'll leave her alone and let her enjoy. See you guys in a few.

very nice Mr green I think the difference between hps and mh is that MH have more blue spectrum and hps is more red , plants like blue in veg and red in bloom but either can be used for whole grow

oldjarhead100 Either??? I have understood that you can use the orange spectrum bulb--the HPS--throughout a grow, but that it isn't good to use a blue MH throughout the grow. ...????

you know alltatup you could be right on that I've always used hps in bloom and t5 in veg , I thought you could use either but that they did better if used in bloom or veg

Great comments guys! I would think that , since MH are intended for the grow phase, that they would not be as effective in bloom; in contrast, HPS are meant for flowering and plants grow more in the flower phase, so HPS would benefit grow and bloom. Just my 2 cents. (Keep in mind I'm a rookie lol)

OK so we're at Day 30. She is just growing like crazy. The first 2 pics were taken yesterday...the last one was taken today. I had to tie her up and clip her just a tad...she was way too bushy in the middle. I think I got her spread out pretty good though.

Thanks everyone for the input...always appreciated! Now, yall saw how I had her tied up 4 days ago right? Well, here she is today! Needless to say, she didn't take very kindly to being imprisoned lol! Depending on her growth, I may start flowering next week. That should be quite interesting! Stay tuned...

MH are beneficial in the vegetative stage due to the available blue light that triggers importent morphological functions. Without it the plant will presume it does not have enough or is hidden from light and will stretch.
HPS are more efficient both electrically and biologically, allowing for a higher quantum yeild and yeild per watt. You can get extra blue HPS bulbs which are likely better than using MH as it provides just enough blue while providing more efficient light spectrums.
