Manifolding

In reading your excellent article regarding manifolding I was a bit confused regarding the 3rd node. If you begin topping at the 3rd node when you have six nodes then it doesn't matter where you determine where the first node is because the 3rd node is in the middle. I personally was thinking from the top down (in other words the 1st node is on the top). But when your article starts explaining about creating 8 colas it begins by saying topping down to the 3rd node but leave nodes 1 and 3, I didn't get it. Reason being was I was thinking the number 1 node began from the top. If I'm not mistaken, your illustration is showing the number 1 node beginning from the bottom and going up? Is that correct? Excuse my ignorance but I would greatly appreciate your response addressing that issue. Thank you ever so much.

ColaDog, Just as an FYI: Here in the forum, we are all just people like you. Some of us have a little experience, some of us have a lot of experience, some are newbies, but most of us are in the middle. The articles on GWE are mostly written by two people (Nebula and Sirius) with an amazing knowledge base that they share, and sometimes they include articles, journals, tutorials, etc. from others. We just all help each other out using our personal and collective experience. I hope you will join us by responding to others with questions on issues that you may have experience with.

On manifolding, like Potted, I count from the bottom. Did you read Nugbucket's tutorial on main-lining? Nebula calls it manifolding but it's the same thing and she included Nugbucket's tutorial on GWE and it is a great article on the whole process.

When the plant gets it's 'first" node, that is the first node for the life of the plant. Then the second node, etc.

That is why we count from the bottom

Appreciate the kind words of wisdom, Dagmar! It finally all began making sense in regards to counting from the bottom. Duhhh! I have read the article on main-lining but must have not paid as much attention in regards to the nodes and how we number them. Thanks again for your feedback!

Thank you Flockshot for bringing that to my attention. It all began making sense to me after I thought about it for a bit. Just plain old common sense! LOL. Thanks again for your feedback!

I finally figured it out after thinking about it for a bit. Just plain old common sense. Thank you ever so much for your comments.
