Everyone should have a grow buddy. I dont have anyone I could depend on and I have thought of starting a service where you could help folks get started growing and also take care of crops when needed.
Or maybe rent-a-tent...
96 auto refilling gallons of needing no lazy stoner that can't understand pH'ing let alone show up for a couple minutes so I can have a vacation longer then 48hrs......priceless.
This post might be a good argument for plastic pots. I water 5 gallon bags a couple times a week, but water my plastic potted house plants every 2-3 weeks.
He could've saved them with a DIY auto irrigate system and not have to rely on friends. They are cheap and good for when you need to leave for a few weeks.
Cheap and easy fix is a wicking system. Have a bucket of water placed higher than the plants. Then use a strip of cloth about 2½ wide or some ½ inch rope(not nylon or synthetic) long enough to to go from the bottom of the water bucket to the plants. Have enough to be able to get it a couple inches into the soil and you would have and it will draw enough water as the plant uses to keep them going and not die.
