Lighting question

In my bloom room I had a 1000 hps the fixture was to heavy for my light rail mover so I switched to a 630 cmh , Not happy with the size of the buds ,so I have been thinking of going back to the hps ,Then I did some investigating and my travel distance on the lt rail may be to long so now I'm going to put 2 lights on it. my options are 2 630 chm I would have to buy one or ,one 630 cmh and one 1000w hps turned down to 600 watts ,or 2 1000 w hps , now I know the very best solution would be the 2 hps ,but my thoughts are the 2 cmh for cost , any thoughts from others would be appreciated

Hey Oldjarhead.... I’m sure nothing I write isn’t anything you’ve already heard but.... I too have a 315 and a dimmable 1000hps. The general thinking is if your running a 1000w HPS at a lower output, you will have great efficiency just using the lower rated HPS at the wattage you dim down to.. I have read that even the light spectrum changes when dimming a 1000w to 600w. So you gain a better advantage just using a plain old 600w. Obviously you have a decent investment in a 630LEC/CMH

On the the other hand: AND I HAVE NO INTERESTS in the company... but I am a tinkerer. Check out the photoboost led build on YouTube by GreenGenes garden. If it intrigues you, I’ll fill you in on what I’ve done with it.

oldjarhead100 right now my head is so full of questionable claims from companies selling lights of various kinds. I've seen others with great results from CMH. But now I'm questioning everything anyone says about which lights work better, cheaper, cooler, deeper penetration etc etc.

You already have the hps I think so maybe give it a try and see if it gives you the results you are looking for alongside the cmh. We all know hps works great. Do others work better?

As far as all the professional growers going to all the new lighting systems it's because the government gives out subsidies for using the newer systems. You can almost get them free in some states. I know down this way you can get them for almost nothing after the subsidies in a business setting.

wow what a deal that is lol my hps reflector is a big kahuna and weighs to much for the light mover after thinking about it I ordered another 630 Lec ,with a rod extender I think it will work better and if the bud size doesn't improve well we will deal with that later lol
