how simple is dwc 5 gallon buckets set up?

can i make a dwc with 2 5 gallon pots one with holes in it to sit in another one without holes and if you did that would you still need a seperate res or the bottom bucket is good enough for a res and you can just add nutes/feed as you go by lifting up the top bucket and pouring in what you need to..

If I understand your concept...the bucket with holes would be redundant in a DWC setup. Perforated buckets are used in Water Farm systems that use continuous top feed into a media such as hydroton. The idea is that the water trickles over the roots and through the hydroton while being recirculated through the system. In DWC the roots are suspended in water, so with or without the perforated bucket the system would act the same.

ok so just holes on the bottom of the insde bucket and a airstone for bubbles and just add nutes as i go or do i need to empty the bucket sometimes?
