Outdoor it’s not ideal to defoliate. Makes sense indoors to let some light deep into the canopy but outdoors you have more than enough sunlight. Just topping and lollipop the bottom and you are good to go. I’d say about a foot at the bottom so it’s clean and no leads touching soil. I don’t even top anymore waste of time I just bend the plant and they explode in growth. Alfalfa meal tea to keep your plants short and bushy AF
I now use containers but for many years did just in ground grows:smile: all we did was clean lower half up mid way through grow when they were about 4ft. and only removed leaf as it yellowed or died. Now i do containers and top them to keep them short, the sun does it's magic on it's own and will penetrate without much defoiliation. Only if the long colas in late flower touch you want to keep those away from doing that. Ask away your garden is off to a great start.
