HELP- first hydro build and grow

And keep the H202 in the medicen cabinet, that shit kills the bacteria culture your working hard to build and your plants need it. That is not bro science, look it up With that in mind, leave a little water in the bottom of the bucket, or better yet I dont do a full res change, I just keep topping the res off and adding nutrients based on the water that was used. Another cool thing about water grows is you can monitor the nutrient uptake. If your PPM is 700 when you fill the res then check it again when you need to top it off and the you will now if its getting enough to eat or too much

I had to look up about a beneficial bacteria culture in hydro as I thought that sort of thing was for soil. I thought hydro was all about clean roots and clean root juice with plenty of oxygen.
How does a plant develop a BBC on its own?
The only science I can do is nutrient pH and temperature. I don't have any of those fancy schmancy gizmos some of you people have. Don't even have a cell phone! Dig on that!!

Lack of oxygen is the #1 cause of root rot and heat in the res is #2, I always had plenty of air bubbling but when the water temp got to about 84 or higher root rot would start at the tips of the roots. With your experiment Dabber I would just see what happens and save my money. If I was going to buy anything it would be a thermometer for the water, Going back to the basics is good thing to do from time to time. Keep a daily log you may need it.

The stone is for a 10-gallon tank and I'm running it in, perhaps, 3 quarts. Should be plenty.
Temps are 69°-73°, depending on how well I keep up with the basting and covering the lid.

I ordered some Alaskan thunder fuck from NASC. I think that is what I'm going to run first

Keeping the water treated with something to fend off root rot is a must. Don’t use it until roots reach the water, but after that, it has to be part of your planned care. (DWC guy here)

The seeds that I ordered should be here by Saturday, going to spend the day tomorrow working on the basement and getting the tent ready , also going to try to get another black bucket for res. Change

I just ordered a air stone kit,it has everything I need, including black tubing, should be here Saturday

I got the seeds today,I paid for 6 and got 14 for free, I'll definitely be ordering from NASC again, plus they sent me a grove bag, cool 😎

i was goin' thru their catalog i think they're my next suplier? you know what i mean, prices are decent and from what i hear they use good breeders

When I get a seed sprouted and ready to put in the bucket, where do I keep the water level? Just under the rock wool cube ??and how long do I soak the cube in the 5.5 pH mix??

Definitely a top notch supplier. Wait for sales. They have them all the time. I ordered some In-house Genetics from them recently and got 8 free with free shipping. Great customer service too.

I just got the air stone kit,,it came with 52 feet of black tubing, going to build the bucket today at some point

I haven't used rock wool before but I imagine clay balls would be similar. are you running a recirculating pump between res and pot? If so set your res lower than the pot so it can drain back, if not you want them level so you can tell the water level in pot when you look in resivour should be the same. Then you want to do a trial run, you want a few inches gap between the bottom of the basket and the water level to start with, have it all running for 1/2 hour and check that the levels staying the same if using pump it can get a bit tricky specially if pot draining slower than pump is pumping resivour, adjust res/pot height if needed. Secondly you want to see moisture on the bottom of the basket from when the air bubbles are popping on the surface and water droplets are making it onto the basket. You will need to top feed until roots are visible out bottom of the basket.. some people lower water level over the growth of the plant but I'd get started and then look into that at around week 4 of vege.. after you have roots showing, avoid lifting basket out of pot, every time light hits the roots its damaging them, same as light hitting the water, also you risk twisting the roots up if you keep moving them around, resulting in root rot etc.
hopefully someone else can correct any errors Ive said and can tell you about the Rockwool side of it. Sounds like you're excited 😆
