Just my two cents...
Up until 3 years or so ago, if you would have told me that I wouldn't have at least one or two drinks every evening (usually wine or cocktails) I would have told you that you were nuts. However, when I found the joys of cannabis, my desire for alcohol literally stopped overnight and haven't drank more than half a serving a few times in those last 3 years.
Since I stopped drinking, I've lost weight (never been overweight, but still lost 5-10 pounds), I sleep through the night, I don't wake up drenched in sweat, and instead of having Tums several times a week, I can't remember the last time I needed one.
Went to the doctor for a physical this past spring. Had skipped a few years partly because of Covid but my test results/blood work had always been in the 'good' category. This time, all the numbers jumped into the 'excellent' category. The doctor was impressed and asked if I had started a different diet or exercise regime since he saw me last. Nope and nope. I told him the only thing that changed was once I started consuming cannabis, I stopped drinking and he was amazed. He said that he is constantly telling his patients that if they want to improve their health almost overnight to stop drinking but no one ever does it so he was excited to see it in real life!
Not being a doctor myself, it's hard to say that cannabis made me lose the weight (I do get the munchies, but we keep things like peanuts and raisins and chocolate chips to snack on) by itself or if the cannabis helped me stop drinking and that was the trick or if it was being able to address the stress since cannabis does a better job of that than alcohol or if it was a combination of all of that (most likely) but dropping the alcohol and adding the cannabis has made a ton of difference!
