has anyone used 2 1000watt hps lights for a 6x6 space

I'm currently growing 2 candy canes and I'm useing 2 1000watt hps eye hortilux bulbs in roughly a 6x6 space just in a utility shed no mylar or anything. 1200-1500ppm of co2. Fox farm nutes and they are in flower and they seem to be loveing it!!!! I just thought I'd share and see if anyone else has done this and what there exsperince was like. My bulbs are roughly 10inchs away on a 12/12 sched one light on top and on on the side

Based on what I've watched online regarding commercial applications for grow lights, a single 1kw is used for a 4x4. That's 16 sq/ft and you have 36 sq/ft so 2 lamps should be poyfect!

hey Tyler I would get a lux meter and see where your light need to be anything over 85,000 lux is wasting money, and you will be amazed at how little you have to adjust your lights or plants to make a huge difference in how much light they get

I used one 1000 for a 5x5 and ran it @ 600...it was too hot for my environment. Going to a 5x9 tent I switched to LEDs as I did not want to run 2 1000...and glad I did

Before evolving into the LED age, I ran a pair of 400W sodium and/or metal discharge lamps over a space about that size. Your total light output may be reasonable, but I'm not comfortable with the '10 inches away' geometry. Those bulbs will be HOT. You may wind up with some crispy critters. In a utility shed that size, you may need a LOT of cooling to avoid simply cooking everything in there. If you aren't building a lighthouse to show everyone the way to your grow, it may take some effort to get enough airflow without huge light leaks. 2000 Watts is 2000 Watts, whether it's in lightbulbs or room heaters. How hot would a that space get with a pair of 1000W heaters running 16-18 hours per day? Maybe you can slow-cook some great barbecue in there.

with the CO2 enrichment they may be able to handle the excess light and higher temps. only time will tell.

Lmfao ya I hear ya I'm in flower so 12/12 lights and I'm running an intake fan and an ac my temps are 80/ 60 so yes 80 is still a bit high I'm gunna work on cooling it about 10more degrees I also live in the woods so I dnt have nabours lol

In my experience, 80 degrees is very comfortable for these plants, especially if they grow up in those temperatures. My grow room frequently tops out at 90 or a bit more and nobody even begins to droop. Sativa genes come from tropical regions, and are the most heat tolerant. Be certain to water them well and often as the temperature goes up.
