I know there are a lot of factors but would like to get a general idea of the yield I should reasonably get from a plant. I have been growing WW and GSC in Hydro topping and supercropping the plants. Growing in a 4x4 area using LED and COB lighting. I have been pretty happy with previous grow but would like to get a general idea from others. Been getting 3-4 oz dry bud from each.Just going on my 2nd year at this
 
Photos I get between 4 and 6 oz a plant hydro 2 plants under a 315 cmh in a 2x4.

auto 3 to 4 oz per plant hydro 2 plants under 3 v300 viperspectra In 2 x4.
 
As you stated there are a number of different factors. I would consider an average grow to be .5 grams per actual watt, with anything over .75 grams per actual watt to be great. Once you start approaching 1g per watt or more I feel like you’re in exceptional territory. Yield per plant can vary based on how many you grow in a given space, so I guess your personal results come down to how many plants did you pull 3-4 oz. from under how many actual watts. My personal best was 10 oz. off 3 plants under 400 watts for a .7g per watt average. I got roughly the same per plant average as you. It that doesn’t tell the whole story.

They use a 3'x3' area to to make those calculations. My understanding is no matter what method you use, sog or scrog. That's what they expect the plants in their conditions with a 3'x3' grow will produce. It's more of an area measurement really.
 
I feel grams per watt is a very inacrate guideline if u want a true number u need to calculate grams per kWh used.
 
Expect the GSC to yield half of what the WW will. Real numbers depend on the level light you are using and how big the plants are. It could be as low as a couple of ounces off a small plant or even 350 grams if you fill a 3x3 with a single plant in scrog. Just to giving an example is hard to tell by plant. In a 4x4 some people get a full unit
 
My last OG Kush was grown under 300w LED during veg. and finished off under 600w HPS in a 4x4x80 tent. Keep in mind that I do a single plant at a time. My yield was 4.4 oz. of cured buds. My next plant, which has been under 600w MH for veg and 600w HPS during flower, is Northern Lights and I can already tell that my yield will be significantly higher.

Veg time would be a key factor in your equation. If you veg for 2 weeks, you'll get significantly less than if you vegged for 3 months with a well trained plant. If you can veg long enough to fill a 3x3 and you have proper lighting, nutes, temps, and all the other factors added in. It's pretty possible to get the stated yield.
 
I agree grams per kilowatt hour used is a more accurate measure of the total energy used during a grow to produce a given weight with a specific strain. It takes into account light schedule, veg time and the flowering period to give the grower a more precise picture. The problem is that it’s not a static measurement, so it can’t differentiate between a strain that flowers in 8 weeks vs. a strain that flowers in 11 weeks because it relies on cumulative time at a given wattage. As a grower I can achieve .5 grams/watt on an 8 week strain or an 11 week strain but my grams/kilowatt hour used will always be lower on an 11 week strain so it measures the efficiency of everything except me.
 
Thanks for the info. Seems like I am in line with my results.I have noticed 1 thing from when I started smoking in the 60's back then it was you want to go smoke a joint and today it is you want a few tokes because that is all it takes now
 
I agree, Smoke-a-lot. While I do appreciate the higher quality of today I miss the communal feeling of passing a joint around!

I think that if the focus is to utilize the space to maximize yield, SOG probably makes more sense commercially.
I just do a single grow indoors for my meds each winter. I currently run an 8 bucket RDWC system-typical total time~5 months. Next year I'm going to start a month earlier using 4 totes in a UC setup. 4 big plants can produce as much as 8 smaller ones, it just takes a bit longer.
