Growing a crop by reading the plants and not a schedule! - Rodelization

Plants obtained by Rodelization- https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-to-...arijuana-seeds, contain genes from 1 female plant.

In my past experience, those seeds behave differently than the mother and don't always follow "the timeline".

I dropped a rodelization (accidental) seed, a week ago from a plant grown with a GHS "Jack Herer" auto and stuck it on my window sill.

I have contemplated doing a grow completely- by what the plant is signaling/maturity etc and not a schedule.

Since this is an "extra" between grows and I am using different lights (CoB/Chilled Logic-combo) this year- I thought this grow should be different with many new variables.

That said: I have grown Jack Herer a few times - so this isn't completely a blind grow using bagseed.

The seed broke ground this morning- a seed needs the next 12 hours of light, once above soil- lucky timing and it will stay on the window for today.
It took 6 days from planting- and was covered by a platic cup-which gets removed immediately once above ground.

Vader og is a California breeder, he just got into the 2019 breeders hall of fame of high times. Anyway he does a lot of videos on YouTube and explains all about what he does. He has explained that the best way to reverse sex in a female plant is what you did, usually done by letting a strain go 14+ weeks flowering. It’s the best way to create feminized seeds because it’s the less “stressful” way to reverse sex. When using chemicals of light stress the plants activate their hermie genes and don’t go back, that’s why colloidal silver feminized turn hermie way more often. So by doing a “low stress sex reversal” you have the highest probabilities to get feminized seeds that won’t hermie under regular conditions. Great experiment my friend. Happy growing

subbed for this. I have about a dozen seeds from my first plants, that stressed out and gave some seeds. I been keeping them safe - just was never sure if would bother trying them. this may give me a reason to.

I had a fellow grower who would let plant stressors go uncorrected and his crops would get seeded from time to time.
He would blame "genetics" as so many do and throw out the seeds. I started grabbing his those and growing them under a more controlled environment without any issues- always female and always a good grow.

He doesn't toss them out anymore, lol

Decided to place her under MarsHydro reflector48 (growth switch only) @ 29" from soil in 24/0 in small tent. (not worth starting larger tent until more plants. Also, seedlings don't need much light)

At 24 hours she is looking healthy and ready ro grow.

Soil around the germbag has not been watered- so, watered without getting solution in the germbag.

With each watering- I will be adding the above minerals/supplements in 500ml water in the following amounts:
Pro-Tekt (Si) 1.5mls, Cal/Mag 3mls, Trinity (microbial stimulant) 3mls and Rapidstart (root enhancer) 1ml.

This thread has opened my eyes! Never heard of rodelization before. I have a strain which, to my knowledge, I can't get seeds of. Do you think it is possible to harvest all but one limb and try to get the one remaining limb to produce seeds?

Under the LED's for 24 hrs:
the plant is straight
the serrated leaves are perfectly horizontal indicating proper light range.

I moved the LED 2" closer (@27") and will stop there- allowing the plant to grow into the light for now.

oldjarhead100, The plant has to be directly below the fixture- especially LED's as they shoot straight down (mostly).
A plant can not move out of the way, so leaves will try and shade themselves if too intense.

I have saved all seeds, bag, hermit some, 25yrs old plus! I just had a harvest that was stressed late in flower from sleep/light intrusion and produced seeds. the bud was nice smoking and as usual will save the seeds.

Moving to 2x4x6 tent with other sprouts.

See the first single right side leaf starting to slightly curl a bit. This is indicative of a plant who's leaves are growing faster than the roots. At this early point, it's a non-issue and will correct itself. Since I was moving the plant, I decided to pull the soil away from the germbag to the edge to allow the roots more oxygen. She was watered 3 days ago.

I went with the Chilled logic puckv2 @36" on 50% power- no exhaust or intake fan- just a small fan on the seedling to strengthen the stem and trying to keep humidity/temps up for a few more days.

I will be increasing the light intesity until 100% then move plants to Optic1xl cob for the rest of veg. The chilled is more for flowering, but was dimmable.

Nice. I have started not even watching dates etc. Never seemed to line up for me. Always watched the plants.

And yeah if you let a plant go for a long long flower they almost always seem to produce seeds.

Broke my first rule " Don't tend the garden medicated" .

Growing well under new lights-Optic1XL COB @ 24hrs until 5th node.

Plant is a lighter green than I like at this part of the grow.
Leaves are just touching the edge, container dry and should have waited a day or two for transplant- but (SEE the first rule) I went ahead anyways.

I'm using stock Roots Organics original (not amended) so will consider the plants biology for nutrients.
Roots could carry it for for a 4-6 weeks, but we know there are growth spurts coming- @ transplant, @ topping @ flowering stretch. I added GreatWhite, Liquid Karma and a small dose of guano and grow.

It was traumatic with the dirt falling apart (too dry) however the roots were coming through and they looked good.
Water/Feed the drip line only and give a little plain water in the germbag.

There is a lot going on in this pic- (entire plant drooping)

Is it underwatering/overwatering?- only watered to the drip line.
Environment change?- added exhaust, increased circulation and more light
Transplant shock? - possible and will recover in a few days when new roots grow
VPD?- the temps/rh dropped from 78f and 60%rh to 72f and 30%rh

Regardless, it all revolves around the roots being unable to keep up with the foliage.
trim single leaves off to decrease foliage (like when you clone)
moved away from light a bit
raked/pushed the soil to the containers edge allowing more oxygen to roots
small amount of water in germbag
