Grow #1: Cookies Kush by Barney's Farm | 315W CMH | DWC

Hi everyone. I thought it would help keep me on track if I create a log for my first grow. I'm at a point where I have some seedlings under 24 hours of light. As you can see from the pictures they started having some troubles but I think/hope I'm at a point where I've resolved the issue(s) (based on new growth).

Initially I didn't realize they needed nutrients in that first week so they unfortunately went a few days without nutrients. Now I'm trying to stick to above.

That is probably the reason for the issues you had. Get the nutrients right and you will do fine.

I definitely think that's part of it. Unfortunately they also experienced more than recommended temp and RH fluctuations during "night" time (so I switched to 24 hours light) and I had my PH too low (5.8). Basically a lot of beginner mistakes, but they're hanging on and I'm learning more every day!

My temp and RH still isn't ideal but it's much closer to desirable range. Making little adjustments to exhaust fan and positioning of humidifier and fans to see if I can find that sweet spot. 26.1C and 61 RH right now.

Oh I’m so excited for you! This is my ideal setup minus the overpriced nutrients. I highly recommend the 4-20 mix from hydrogardens, along with their cal nitrate and mag sulfate.

Gave these girls their first hair cut (to get rid of dead leaves). I think they're beautiful. 😊

Notes
Had to put a couple frozen water bottles inside reservoirs to assist with cooling. R1 temp went as high as 22.4C

The new leaves coming in also look greener which is good. It's funny when you click and enlarge the pics they are greener in the large picture. Maybe I'm just high though.

I do not call those seedlings anymore. They will accelerate their growth even faster over the next weeks.

Hey Spidermite, thanks for confirming. Pumped the ppm up to the 800-900 range, put the lights a little closer (18") and looking forward to the weeks ahead.

Double check for bugs with a jeweler's loop or micro scope made for your phone. I grow in soil but check with others as you may want to lower the ph some for your setup. The plants take up nutrients based on certain ph levels. Also make sure your using enough cal/mag. You can also try lowering the ppm a bit and see what happens.

You’re right it’s because of your PH, however it’s not the fluctuations. You’re PHing to a fault, let the Ph range between 5.5 and 6.5

What do you mean when you say ph to a fault? Too many micro adjustments to keep between 6.0-6.3 vs letting it swing more naturally between 5.5-6.5?

It could be a bug. I dont have the eyes I used to but definitely could be a bug.

Spider really wants to visually eat a bug, haha. Seriously though do let you Ph swing from 5.5-6.5 you’re locking out a few nutrients that are absorbed just under 6

Thanks all. Really appreciate you both tagging along for the ride. Will do like you suggest and provide an update in a few hours. Noticed the tiniest bit of white powder on the tip of a plant today which I was able to wipe away with a disposable glove. 😞

Dropped humidity to 40s and really hoping I can turn this around.

One of my healthier plants in reservoir 2 starting to droop but colour is looking better. All plants in reservoir 1 look ok.

Changed ratio of nutrients to include more micro and gro because plants were starting to show red stems and 1 plant in particular looked very pale.
