First time grower here. Closet grow. Plant was doing great until a few days ago. The tips started to turn brown Brown and I noticed discoloration on the leaves. It's around 6 weeks old. It's gets 18 hours of light and 6 dark. It's in a high grade soil with a little bit of organic compost from my garden. It's in a 10 gallon container. I checked the PH though and it's seems a little too high so I went out and bought peat moss to add to the soil to help lower it, because I think it might be a nutrient lock out. The lamp I'm using is a 1000w led grow light with the options to change the light for veg and bloom. There is one fan pointed a the wall to help circulate and one pulling air out of the closet. I just bought the nutrients and I plan on starting them once I figure out the issue. Didn't start nutrients yet because I didn't want to burn the plant

It looks like your high grade soil was a little to hot and burned the plants they should be fine and its nothing to worry about I usually increase my nutes until I burn them then thats there max

oh so I wouldn't start those nutes until the soil has used its nutes if it burned your tips it will probably go the whole grow .When the leafs start getting yellow from the bottom up is when you should add them

The plant is a Guava Jelly CBD plant being grown outdoors. Please take a look at the photos and let me know what you think is going on. Looks like leaves have tiny rust spots on them and some have gone all yellow.

look up PH adjusters (down) and adjust your water to 6.5 every watering.

I would say that shes using up the nutes in the soil so you should start adding some ,did you stress her out

Hello! My approx 2 month old Amnesia Haze AF looks like it has “the claw.” It’s growing in a mix of top soil and amendments like used tea, coffee, eggshells, perlite, coco coir etc...fertilized with FF Grow Big and now Big Bloom every other feeding. Hubby clipped all the huge fan leaves off so she looks a little sparse but that was his plan. She is in a 4x8 tent with a 400 LED bulb and three other plants that looks amazingly healthy in the same exact soil and fertilizer/water schedule. I’m concerned about the “ball” looking buds, just don’t know what’s going on. We’re new to growing, this is our second harvest. Thanks so much!!

Hi HL2200 I think your soil was to hot from the start and with coffee grounds unless all that was properly composted for at least 6-7 months before. A lot of stuff and nute lock out soil not draining looks like root rot? I don't put coffee or tea bags in my weed soil. I keep household waste in compost pile for veggie garden. Too much love in that soil and not enough drainage. Sorry my 1 cent Best of luck

Thank you so much!! The tea/coffee was not composted, just dried after use. It’s in a regular pot with many holes in the bottom and we have a water meter for checking soil wetness. So you don’t think it’s a hermie? Should I just use fresh water for a while? Thanks again!

you could transplant into a bigger pot that would allow you to take a look at the roots ,did it get really hot in you tent , I have plants that are the same strain one has the claw and others are fine ,also with the size of your tent how far away is the light, I have a 4x8 tent as well I got some flexible insulation from Lowes and spit it in half so 2 4x4 ,ok back to help ,with all that material that needs to compost are you sure your soil is not heating up to compost it

I never thought of the soil trying to compost itself, thanks for the info! Will try to look at the roots today too. Does splitting the tent really work? Did you build a frame for the second story? Could you share a pic? 🤓

I have a question about germinating seeds. I have been finding for years that when some seeds pop up through the soil that some don't "pop off" the seed shell case. In those cases I've "birthed" the seeds by removing the seed case by hand, that doesn't seem to hurt the plant in any way if done carefully. My question "Am I doing something wrong in the first place to cause that kind of problem?"

Hi everyone,

This is my first visit to this forum and as the title suggests I got here after having some issues with my plant at home.

I’ll give you guys the story and follow with some pictures. Any advice would be much appreciated.

So I grew MJ once before in Europe over ten years ago. They were feminized seeds and all went pretty smoothly. I currently live in South East Asia and here pot is filled with seeds so I thought I’d give growing those a go. Out of 50 seeds only one sprouted but that one’s been growing strong ever since.

The plant lives in a pot that I filled with a mixture of soil, sand, coconut husk, rice husk, and a little cow dung. I usually gave some worm extract every few weeks.

The plant is in full sun on the roof and as it’s rainy season here in the tropics so it usually gets a serious watering daily.

A few weeks ago I tested the PH with a cheap PH meter and it was at 5 so I put lime powder and a good amount of cow dung on top of the soil. I also had some bugs in the garden so I preventively sprayed it with a neem oil mixture. I have white spots on the leaves and stem as well and hoped the neem oil would fix but it didn’t.

A few weeks back I also had a little accident by which the main stem split about an inch deep. I tied it back together which seemingly healed well.

2 weeks ago I started seeing some leaves turn yellow but I went straight on holidays leaving it as is. Now that I’m back the pot is full of dead brown leaves that have mainly dropped from the bottom part of the plant. Higher up I see the bigger leaves change colour as well.

I assume the problem is phosphorus deficiency but I'm not sure. If so, will adding nutrients be enough and would it be a good idea to renew the soil and thus transplant the plant?

Hello Seande here is what I see...you appear to have root issues. Either pot has poor drainage and the roots got attack by bugs/root rot. If it were mine I would transplant to larger pot with many drain holes. To warm humid in that pot now cooking the roots. Move it out of sun and give it long drinks/flush no more nutes. Goodluck

I usually do NOT think deficiency first, since we feed our plants so well: I will think "nutrient lockout" first. In that case, plant needs a good flush to get all the salt buildup out of the soil.

But without knowing more details about watering, etc., I'm not sure. See if the article helps you! ;-}

In coco your nutrients will build up and causes lockout ,usually not this early but I would try what ATU said and flush them out
