Flowering ?

Hey all, how's everyone doing? Got a ? About the flowering time. Ok for instance you know I'm growing NL, and her flowering period lies between 7 to 9 weeks. I'm in my 8th week of flowering tomorrow and none of the 3 I've got going is ready yet so my ? Is this. Does the flowering period begin the day you switch the light cycle, or does it begin when you see the actual flowers begin to develop? I've been thinking about this for days now and I just had to ask the ones I knew could help me. Judging by the stage and looks of my ladies the period probably begins when you first start to see the beginnings of the first flowers. But not for sure so could you give me a little feed back please. Thanks GWE and have a good night.

Hi Trimmings: I agree with Campesino, and that has always been my experience. I switch to flower and about a week later, I see the beginnings of bud sites--i.e., pistils. That's when I start counting.

Everything above agrees with my experience. Furthermore, I have yet to witness a plant be ready for harvest according to the breeder's timeline. For me, so far, I can expect to add 1 - 2 weeks to any breeder's estimated flowering time to harvest.
Oh, and welcome to the circus! You'll love it here!

My experience so far, has been that breeder time lines are very optimistic, and calculated for ideal conditions.
The type of growing method can make a lot of difference, to. Plants grown in hydro or coco, with a very powerful light, will tend to mature closer to that time line.
Plants grown organically in soil, with natural light( how I grow) will take longer. How long the plant is vedged for also makes a difference. A longer vedge time, or a clone from a mature plant, tends to lead to a faster flowering time. Really young seedlings, like 4-5 weeks old, can seem to take FOREVER!!
