First Time Grower - overcoming mistakes

I notice the extender on your humidifier? Is that how it is or have you set it up like that so the humid air settles on the canopy,?

Drphil69 - Thanks! I just watered them. They did all the work! LOL!

Wayzee - The extender was a DIY project I pieced together at the local Home Depot. The humidifier was too short so I rigged up the extender to clear the canopy. I probably could have made it shorter but I'm lazy and it worked! Hahaha!

I switched to 12/12 one month ago today. Here are some photos to show how the plants are doing now. I think the flower growth looks pretty good and can't wait to watch them develop bigger and denser over the next month. Still dealing with considerable yellowing. Reduced lighting to 75% (VivoSun grow guidance for the early flowering stage) and increased the nutrients (forum feedback). Did some defoliation last week so those inner and lower buds get some light and air.

What are you doing to combat the yellowing? I'm assuming increasing nutrients as you mentioned?

Look into DLI(DAily Light Integral) to help you get your lighting right.

Nice job! The buds look good and also your trimming of the bushy fan leaves looks good. One tip is you can yank those fan leaves downward at the base of the stem and it should come off cleanly, but make sure to use your other hand to support the branch stem (otherwise the whole plant will bend and you might yank off a whole branch, done that before). That way you don't stress the plant as much and don't leave a stub and larger wound, that can happen with shears.
I don't know if someone mentioned this, but with those liquid trio nute packs you may need to add calcium magnesium supplemental secondary macroutrients. Fox Farm sells it and so does General Hydroponics, I use General Hydroponics CALiMAGic. In hydroponics you typically need to add it to your nute mix every time, since the medium is inert. In soil it might be a bit before the premixed nutes get used up, but depending on the soil mix, eventually you might need to add calmag supplement. Also PHing your fresh water or nute mix to 6.5 is recommended for soil, which I saw others mentioning, which could cause the deficiency if below PH level 6 or above 7.
Also for the heat issue, what's your room temps look like in the day? If you have the intake filter (or just ducting if not using a filter) right above the driver of your LED light (that's should be the hottest part of the light panel) it should take off that excess heat, but if your room temp outside the tent is high temp it will just be at that temp, even with a good negative pressure from the inline fan outtake.
Also it doesn't really look like light burn, so I think if you could get tent temps down they could use all the light they can get at 100%. It's more about the height of the LED lights over the plants canopy that fixes light burn. You could also look at the manufacturer specs on light height, get the PPFD number, and throw it into a DLI calculator (I always just google to find one). You compare that reading with the general DLI requirements for cannabis when flowering, which I don't know off the top of my head. However that is only if you really want to nerd out. I think unless you have like a big commercial LED panel, you can leave it on 100% with the lights at a good height to not light stress the plants.

Bored and can't sleep. I did the math and at 18" above the plants at 100% power the DLI would be at 46.27 with a Vivosun VS2000. I looked it up and optimal DLI for ganja is 30-45 during flower, but can go up 50 or more.

I think heats your problem. That light shouldn't cause light burn at any sensible height. Are you giving them bloom nutes? pH 6.5 to 6.8?

Thanks, apacin0. I have been using both methods to defoliate. If the leaf doesn't detach easily by hand, then I will use the shears. I had a bottle of CalMag on order and was notified yesterday that delivery can't be fulfilled. Now I need to place another order and wait. I was trying to stick with all Fox Farm nutes but if I can't get their CalMag, I assume there won't be an issue if I mix nutes from different makers. I pH my fresh water and my nute mix to 6.5 every time before giving to the plants. Room temps where the tent is located are usually about 5-7 degrees cooler than inside the tent with lights on. I'm working towards adding a window A/C unit to cool that room more but don't think that will happen before harvest time for this grow. I do plan to go back to 100% intensity on the light VivoSun grow guidance says this for "late flowering stage". I just need to figure out what is considered late flowering stage. I'll have to do some research on the DLI stuff. If you don't mind doing more calculations, what is the DLI for VS2000 at 75% and 18" above canopy? Bluey, right now they are getting the following nutes (usually every other feeding/watering, but to give them more as someone suggested I gave the two that are most yellow nutes twice this week): Fox Farm - 1.5tsp/gal Big Bloom, 1tsp/gal Grow Big, and 0.5tsp/gal Tiger Bloom.

I have a question.
Okay I have a Cinderella 99 flower and Hollywood OG.
And they are both on day 9 of flower.
And the Cinderella 99 has like white hairs and some amber colored ones. And the Hollywood OG has only white.
I was reading that the Hollywood OG, since it's a OG it needs magnesium and calcium? I am wondering can someone show me where to find this online so I can read about...
And the amber color on my Cinderella 99 is that normal at day 9 of flower?

Ah... I just read that if you're pushing a PPFD of over 1000 µmol/m²/s in a 12 hour period, you'll hit over the recommended threshold (without supplemental CO2) of 30-45 DLI. That being said, I think using the math at 16" height the Vivosun VS2000 puts out approximately 1300 µmol/m²/s, times that by .75 (which gets 75% power) you get 975 µmol/m²/s. Calculate that into DLI for 12 hour period and you get a DLI of 42.12, which is in the safe zone.

Any calmag supplement will really work. You could also add egg shells and epsom salt, if you want to go more organic. I do liquid nutes, so no personal experience with the organic approach.

I calculated the DLI for 75% at 18" height and it comes to 34.70. (I posted the calculation for 16" height in a post below, which should also be safe at 75% power) This is actually within a good range for the early stage. I'm honestly learning more as I'm researching for you haha. Also note these are only calculation based on what the manufacturer claims the PPFD output is. They claim at 100% power at 12" height it outputs 1797 µmol/m²/s, at 16" 1300 µmol/m²/s, and at 18" 1071 µmol/m²/s. To approximate 75% power you just take that PPFD number and times it by .75. I was using this website to calculate the DLI.

Also when I originally suggested you use 100% I thought you had the smaller 100W unit.

Nevermind I am using Happy Frog soil.
And my clone was in a wool like cube from Good source grower.
And I just found out my soil has magnesium in it and lime something.
So I really do not need any food.
And my Hollywood OG does not have a magnesium deficiency.
It's leaves are perfect. So I must be doing something Right.

Over 1000 PPFD on the canopy (the leaves) will cause issues without CO², the leaves will probably die back quickly.

Edit. I thought you were only using a little 100W light also.

I have a question.
They have baby clones at my MJ dispensary.
And I have my flowers on 12/12hr now and I'm wondering if I can buy this baby clones and keep under 12hr light until May 25th, because after then the weather will stop raining and be warm. And I can plant it outside until October with happy frog soil I have. I'm just wondering can I keep a baby clones under my MJ flowers in flowering time until May 25th. That's about 7 days?

Or can I keep it under my led light 12hr for until June 1st?
Could I ???
Just because the weather will be a lot nicer outside.
If I buy it tomorrow ?

7 days may be enough to flip it into flower then you'll spend many many weeks working to reverse that so you can re-veg it.

I have the black pot is a 2 gallon and Cinderella 99 inside of it. And the blue pot is a Hollywood OG and I think is a 1 gallon or 1.5 gallon pot.
I made mistake on buying way to small of pot.
I didn't realize until they were flowering.
How much you think I will get.?
And I did not top them or lat. So I'm focusing on the 9 main colas there Are...

Today is there 10th day on flower .
And they went through about 35 days of veg..
They are only 22" tall.
When I turned them on 12/12hr they were 18", so they only got 4" taller in about 10 days . Im thinking it's because how small they pots I put them in are. I'm expecting to get I hope 4grams off each cola or more. In 7 to 8 weeks. Or more maybe. Idk I'm using 100 Watt Vivosun led light.
I should bought spider 1000.
But I did not research as much about marijuana or lights at the time.
So I'm all new to this. And I'm learning as I go.
My next grow will be phenomenal.!
