First Grow of the year

Well, the girls are really growing up fast. Watered them yesterday, half-strength nutes.
They have already grown to their fifth node, so this morning I topped them all. Will post more pics Tuesday.
17 days out of the soil and topped already.

These plants have been out of the soil for 19 days - topped 2 days ago and they haven't slowed their growth at all. Third Foliar Essence spray after these pics were taken. Manufacturer says spray once a week, I'm cheating a bit by spraying them every 6 days.

Wow, looks great Canuck! I just made a foliage spray with my nutrients. 1/4 of dosage, just sprayed today. This is my first auto grow so I'm a little scared to top, but I have started LST and my plant is responding well. Keep up good work. My nutrients are from greeenplanet, medi-one. It's more of an organic based nutrient. First time with it
cheers.

Oh, just remembered. Been feeding them doses of carbon dioxide, courtesy of my sis-in-law. Mentioned to her a few months back that I needed some yeast. So she comes over with some stuff, including a Costco yeast. I told there was enough yeast I could bake three loaves of bread every day and have some left over after the expiry date. So I kept it. And decided to share the yeast with my cannabis plants.
So I start what is called a 'sponge' - any family back in the day of baking had these sponges, or starters as some call them, added to them and also took from the sponge to start bread for the day. I place this sponge in the tent, but not totally covered and definitely not a cool or dark place either. So it dries out after a couple of days, but I have all this yeast..............

It's great to experiment, that's what some of this whole process is. Good luck growing.
If you intend to spray more this is the tip for the trick. Leaves have pores underneath them called 'stomata' and are most open and receptive within the first hour that the lights come on.

Depends on the size of your tent I presume. For my 3x3 I use one teaspoon yeast, half a cup of warm water(no more than 110 Fahrenheit) 1/3 cup of sugar mix and wait five minutes for the yeast to activate. Mix in cup of flour with teaspoon of salt. Cover half of it up and put it in your tent. Dries up after a couple of days all the while expending c02, which makes one's plants happier. Happy plants equals big buds.

Believe it or not but sponges have been handed down over many generations in European families - just for making bread. I use a sponge when I make foccacia bread, but only let it sit for 24 hours before I use it.

After seeing recent posts from other members here - I decided to help these plants grow in the middle by encouraging the branches to grow away from the middle. Not doing any major mainlining, just helping them a bit. I think they'll need it. Last couple of grows have lost a few ounces each grow due to mold. Not in the curing stage, but always near the end of the grow, something always seems to turn brown. Guarding against that this time.

I had 1 incident of bud rot this harvest -( and others before.Mold WPM outside only) . The top big Bud part for rot- happens like greased lightening and ya know you have it when there is a brown fan leaf at the top and none at the bottom. . . BUT on the very " bushy" ( I will never grow again asshole Borderline strain) the leafy cabbage clusters at the bottom pulled in Thrips so I scrapped the two Borderlines waist down into the trash...Didn't even save it for kief.

I top...2-4 times, LST 6-8 branches each plant and defoliate to keep it open. Nothing radical .I will say...Again...I won't grow in soils indoors.
Those girls look beautiful...Let her recover her topping...Grow a bit... You didn't ask but I said.
Looking forwRd to your grow...You are good man.

You're hilarious about your bushes Tika. Thanks for your kind words. These are autos, I'm just gonna let em grow from here - well, there will be defoliating happening, and not too far away either. Those big fan leaves have to come off soon, they're all covering a bud site.
