COCO COIR First grow: How much do I trim off?

HighEnergyVampire

I am 3 weeks into flower, the plants have ballooned overnight. How much do I trim off for air flow? Is there anything else I should be doing to support besides the net?

Thank you in advance.

Pruning like hair cut, everyone has a style. I take off lower fan leaves and inner larf shoots that will not make it. Then I look down from the top and look if I can see all the bud sites. Trim so the buds are in the light. Keep the air flowing inside the plant and keep light on the important bud sites. At that stage they should be starting to define themselves. Each plant can be different, help them become who they want to be and what you need them to be. How you do it can be determined by what style you are trying to produce.

hey vamp, i have a question, maybe i'm not seeing it but to me it doesn't look like your net is holding anything down. could you use a 2nd net or tie downs if that's what yer going for?

Dang it, I had a feeling I wasn’t using the net correctly. Should I add a second net or use plant ties? Currently I have the colas just spread out into each hole.

If the stems have gone woody at the bottom their ability to bend is limited. Moving the net up would also probably be difficult but if you can do it I would try. If you can't consider a second net. Lower it down slowly about half way or so, then bent the stems sideways and just tuck the branches in the net horizontally. The idea is to spread the plant so as many bud sites see the light possible. That is a tall order for a first grow. No shame in what you have grown there the way it is.

The defoliation looks pretty spot on to me mate. I also have a few blue dreams going, not as far along as yours though.

I agree but I would super crop those 3 that a taller than the rest, that should be easy enough but keep the tape handy

I would probably add a net, put the branches through, then bend them over so long as the stems don't go snap crackle pop.

I typically use the schwazzing technique with pretty good results on Sativa domenant hibreds, never tried it on an autoflower but bro sience says not to and I dont grow enough autos to try.
The key is cut off almost all the fan leaves at the flip and then again 21 days after the flip. Most folks and logic will tell you the plant needs those leaves for nurishment but that is for a plant growing outside with all kinds of things that can happen, drought, soil depletion nutrient , etc. But growing inside especially with hydro where all they need is avaiable from the roots its kind of a different enviroment. But that is my Bro Science.
Make sur eyour jars are full before you try this just in case

I opted to remove the net, thank you everyone for catching this. I will attempt to use it on the next grow. The net made it very difficult to trim, this made it way easier to trim up the back more. At this point, do I need to add any additional support or should I just leave them alone for a bit?
