HYDRO Favorite net pots?

Already too far into my very first DWC hydro grow to switch now, but I was wondering what your favorite net pots are for hydro. I was given tiny 2” pots with my kit, but there’s zero room for anything other than the planted peat disc. I want to use hydroton for the next grow, along with a top-feed system. Which size should I look for? Any specific brands that aren’t cheaply made & flimsy?

Thanks in advance.

I like these. They have a nice wide lip on top, long and wide slots to run the top feed through, they drop right into a hole cut with a 4” hole saw, and they don’t require excessive amounts of hydroton to fill.

While there are several ways to go about the dwc and top feed, I used 8” pots built into the lid for 5 gallon buckets. The top feed used rings to spray nutrient solution on a timer that flowed back to the reservoir and eventually back to the top feeder|. Looking back, my roots in the 5 gallon buckets FILLED each one to the top and the stalks on the plants exceeded 1” diameter or more on every one.

when they’re little seedlings, hard to visualize an incredible growth that can develop. In order to facilitate drainage back to the reservoir, the buckets were elevated so I lost about 12” of height in the room and with lights hanging, I had only a few inches between the leaves and the lights at harvest with near 6ft tall plants. Was worth every bit of extra work !!

search Gro Pro mesh bucket lid on amazon. Also, search Top-feed on youtubio and a video by norco

Thank you! I might try the bucket grows once I finish my room. Very limited on space right now.

6" netlids are what I use. Allows me to fit a 4x4x2.5 Grodan Delta block with a bit of hydroton to fill in the sides. Grows trees

I guess that was supposed to be another part of the question: what is your favorite seed starter? I was given peat discs, but want to use something else for next grow. Rockwool? Rapid Rooters? I’ll look into the Grodin Delta block, thank you!
