Going to run 5 lemon og haze autos in buckets under the viparspectre450 for the first few weeks. Once I harvest my super skunk, I'll incorporate the cmh. I may even start the seedlings out on the porch until the cmh is ready. Haven't "decided" yet (er, haven't asked farmerjane yet!)...
set everything up tonight. I've got the rotorooters in 3.75 net pots that are sitting snugly in 2 liter bottles (I cut the tops off the bottles). Theyll end up in 5 gal buckets.
I have the light at 50% veg (ch1) and it's a good 3 ft or so from the seedlings. Any advice on height and dim settings for newly germinated seedlings from anyone with the dimmable 450?

I'm in Farmerjim .My tent looked like that once when I took it out of the box lol. Chefbjy do you mean the setup tags with the DHGC

Thanks Chef! I had these seeds in addition to some photos... aurora indicas, WW/MasterKush/some other Nirvana random and various local dispensary bagseed (Chocolope, Black Mamba, and Double Black Domina). After seeing @obi-wan's perpetual harvest attempt starting up, I just couldn't resist! Figured it gives me a chance to run both photo and auto and can test out some other training methods and the timing should line up nicely. I really wanted to try buckets too. Scrogging with the 10gal tote got a bit old and I only had 1 plant running... I really like Obi-wans tomato cage things and want to give them a try here.
I admittedly stole the Dark Harvest one from Campesino but wanted a decent way to track what I had purchased and to track my journey...

Alrighty - Day 13 and things are going pretty smoothly. I'm a little behind in putting my system together because I ordered the wrong size hole saw bit. It arrives today so figured I'd map out the plan until then...
1 x 13 gal reservoir with lid
6 x 5 gal buckets (Lowe's spraypainted black to lightproof)
2 x 5 ft 2" pvc
1 x 5 ft 1/2" pvc
1 x 1/2" pvc ball valve
1 x 1/2-2" T connector
12 x 2" Uniseals (requires a 3" hole saw)
1 x 1/2" bulkhead
6 x airstones (I have mediums)
1 x activeaqua submersible pump for sub or inline use (I got the 800 which is likely overkill for now)
My plan is to pH and nutrient in the 13 gal res and pull the solution through 3 pairs of side-by-side buckets. The 13 gal res connects to the 1st two 5 gal buckets from 2 separate exit points. Those connect to the next pair, and then those connect to the final pair through the same 2" pvc passing through Uniseals. When the solution reaches the end of each side, it runs through the 2" to 1/2" T connector and returns to the 13 gal res through the 1/2" pvc. The ball valve sits on this return line.
I think I need to consider a couple of ball valves between the 13 gal and the 1st set of buckets in order to be able to drain the system to clean the buckets when needed. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to chime in! Probably biting off more than I can chew on this one!

Agghh - SO close! Now I know why many commercial bucket systems have square buckets!
so far, the uniseals are holding up ok...i think it's the curve of the bucket that is causing the issue. I'm going to leave the water in overnight to see if any other weaknesses show up. If not, I'll give it a drain tomorrow, seal all seams with marine epoxy from the inside, and give it another whirl.
you may have noticed that I went from 6 buckets to 4. It's very likely 6 + res had no chance of fitting in my 4x4 space. I'll probably take the runt out of the tent and set it up in its own bucket on our sunporch.

Nice! I picked Nirvana for my first seeds specifically for the AI. I just didn't want to screw them up on my 1st grow so i started with one of the randoms... now, I've got these guys going and the dark harveststrains will be next... will have to find some time (or light!) for an AI or 2!

They seem to be coming back a bit. I was way too focused on my bucket setup. I popped the seeds thinking they would stay in the 2 liters for a couple days, but that turned into a week and a half or so...
Speaking of buckets... water retained in the system through the night! Setting up the pump today to stress test a bit more... hoping 1 final drain and epoxy and we're up running...
