Essential, Quarantine or Self Isolation

Hello GWE how is everyone holding up out there? These are crazy times. I am considered an "Essential" worker. We are bussier then ever! I try to only go out once a week for groceries etc. They gave us a document for travelling to and from work. Times are scarey! I am trying to become self sufficient by growing weed and i just started to make my homemade wine... "Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine!" Anyone know who this is?

Self isolation to the extent I can. Full time growing so theirs that. Dispensaries are closing in Canada. Everyone needs a plant or a friend now.

Dispensaries are open here, looks like I wont be making wine this year, no sugar (I have plenty in stock). And I may need to eat the berries anyway. I could go get enuf sugar for 1 batch, but I would have to leave the farm. I think I will just stay here.

BTW I hope you and all "essential" folk are getting hazard pay, you certainly deserve it!

For me, it's a little spooky. I got divorced about a year ago and basically had to start over. I bought some land in a pretty rural area, so I had to stock up on supplies anyway. I JUST finished moving in my new home, mid-1st grow when the COVID 19 hit the fan. I'm in the "at risk group, being 60 and all but I try to stay fit.

I bought some new tires for my Prius by telephone Monday It was a special order that had to be shipped in. I paid for them with a credit card, and gave explicit instructions that I would leave the remote key in the cup holder. I told the salesperson that I would arrive early in the AM, and that I would be the one in the space suit. Arriving about 20 minutes before the store opened I gathered up my cleaning materials face mask, and gloves. I had Clorox wipes, Lysol spray both aerosol, and liquid spray, and hand sanitizer. Then I went for a walk in an unpopulated area. I returned after about 50 minutes, and the car was finished. They placed the invoice, and mileage reminder on the dash, and were very understanding. I immediately went to work lavishly covering everything in disinfectant. I rolled down all the windows, and opened the hatchback. The population of this urban area is 111,000 people with only 45 documented, and reported cases of infection. You might think that I engaged in a goodly amount of overkill, but with one small error your life might very well be ended. Things went smoothly.

I am self employed and considered non-essential so I had to shut down. I'm an independent contractor in a salon so I still have to pay my $80/week booth rental. Started my veggie garden seeds in the house and wanted to try my hand at growing so I got my hands on some seeds and dove right in. My brother in law grows and told me about this site. I started my first seeds yesterday in Jiffy pellets and I can see through a little hole in the pellet that 1 already popped. Hubby is converting a closet for me tonight. Should I put my seedlings being germinated in the closet when it's done or wait till they pop the soil surface?

Haha starramus i don't blame you! When i get home i throw my clothes in the hamper and shower. My wife is immune compromised. I have been know to wipe almost everything down in the house with bleach or a wipe lol I also treat my car as a safe zone. i will not even open the door unless my hands have been washed or if i came from a grocery store where i touched say a shopping cart i keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket always! Sounds paraonoid but better then the alternative! Good to hear it all went smoothly and your story made me chuckle a bit. How the times have changed!

Hello RuralChic97 and welcome to GWE! I am sorry you had to shut down your buisness. My wife was just saying she wished she had got her hair done when i got got mine cut in early march. I am not sure about jiffy pellets since i have not used them. But if you make a post in the forum and explain in detail what you are doing there are many nice growers here that will guide you. Best of luck!

We're isolating save for grocery runs here...I was "furloughed" last month (moved back with my mom to help her out when she retired 3 months ago...worst timing ever) but I have a feeling that my UI claim has fallen into the rabbit hole (I was one of the lucky few that managed to get into the system and approved early). I did manage to get a letter from my company stating that they have suspended operations and I am in fact not working effective March 30th; hopefully I can submit that and it will shake things loose.

This complex is being renovated. Yesterday we all got notification that a worker in the building tested positive...the unit they were in is vacant but they were using basement common areas and almost none of them were wearing masks in the beginning. So construction is on hold...
