Emptying run off

After a few successful grows I still have the issue of having to change my pots full of run off the day after I water my plants.
what advice can the community provide me in regards to buying a suction pump either manual or battery powered ? Or any other methods available ? Thanks in advance for the future advice
 
hey UK don't have anything for you I only water enough for 3 days so I dont have much of a run off problem . they do sell these trays that you put under the plant to keep it out of the runoff .sorry but others will come lol
 
THanks for the reply Jar head, I have them raised in the pots so they don't sit in the run off and have a tray underneath all pots to stop any spills etc
My problem really is getting rid of the run off so it doesn't flood the pots/tray with future feeds
 
Yes- wet dry vac works fine. Can get just the head and then use a 5 gallon bucket. Shop Vac. It is posted on GWE .
 
Hi UK - Sorry but I just don't visualize your situation. Are your pots within pots and then that set up on a tray? Doesn't sound like you are asking about emptying the overflow trays but that you have standing water under (but not touching your plants) in an outer pot and there the water is collected. Is that it? If so are the outer pots plastic? There are some pretty easy ways to hook up little drains or even cork/plug a hole in the bottom of the pots that can be unplugged to drain. BUT as I don't understand I am not offering any good advice. :(

If you can raise your plants up a bit and install a run-off container beneath them that may help. This way you can pull out the run-off container to empty, or hook up a sump pump or a fountain pump if you have a place to drain to. I use individual plastic bins and cupboard organizer stands for each plant.
 
I made this set up out of two totes duct tape and metal door grate...water drains down..No more moving or removing them from tent..just suck water out of totes...ezpz123z

Nice - and you could use a refrigerator shelf, old BBQ grate or ee build a table with a top made of hardware cloth. Just dump the totes beneath, in the meanwhile allow them to add humidity to the room if needed.
