For you experienced dwc growers what do you guys recommend a 10 gallon tote as suggested by Sirius and Nebula or a 5 gallon bucket? What is the difference besides the obvious? I mean does the ph change a lot more being that the bucket takes less water? Will I find myself adding water more often? Will the Roots end up needing more space? Also if I do go with the 10 gallon tote which net pots do you recommend the one recommended in the tutorial is like 50 bucks for like 100 I don’t really need that many and there is others a lot cheaper for less netpots but not sure if the quality is good any suggestions??
 
It really all depends on how many plants you want to grow. If you are only growing one plant, the 5 gallon bucket may be a better choice. If you plan on growing multiple plants, I would say a 10-gallon (or larger) tote would be the way to go. I would also only grow a maximum of 2 plants in one 10-gallon reservoir. I am currently growing two plants in one container and it's barely enough room for the roots. I plan on going to a larger tote on my next grow and filling it with 10 gallons of water each time (or more depending on my size). The plants drink water fast during flowering. I go through 5 gallons every couple of days or so. The smaller the reservoir, the more often you will need to top off. Regardless of method, you will also need to change the water out weekly, so you would want to take that into account. More containers means more time changing out water. If you can condense it to one reservoir, you cut down on the time it takes to do it.

As for net pots...that is a good question. I went with the setup on here calling for the 3.75" net pots. The brand I chose was R&M Brand on Amazon. However, I don't care for them. They are too small and the lip on them is very tiny so it barely keeps itself in the hole you cut. I have problems with the pots sinking down into the reservoir and with them popping out. Plus, the roots have them bulged to the point of exploding. On my next grow, I am going with 6 inch net pots. These will be much larger so the roots will have room and they have a bigger lip that I plan on screwing down to keep from moving up or down. Overall, DWC is a great way to grow! The plants grow very quickly...I am looking at harvesting from seed about 121 days after dropping them in my Rapid Rooters. Growth was steady and fast, and the buds are big and dense. I have grown outdoors before in soil and it took forever and you have to worry about all sorts of environmental issues. With DWC indoors, you avoid a lot of hassle and control everything your plants get. I wish you all the luck with your grow and hope my reply has helped in some way.
 
Thanks for your reply.. About the net pots the problems you mentioned those were my worries now I know I will get the ones you posted.. also I will be growing just one plant at a time so I will be going with the bucket and when I feel confident or comfortable doing dwc I will maybe do two in a 10 gallon tote or bigger.. thanks a lot..
