HYDRO Drying while still in bucket

I'm sorry YYCannabis i never meant for this. I tried to help you best i could and thought i'd add a little humor but it seems this thread has been hijacked. Sorry man.

Answer to original post: I agree with whoever it was to say that you should not dry in your bucket.

You COULD cut your plant down at the stalk in one piece and hang it up, but it would take very very long, the middle wouldn't dry completely, might mold.

If you left if in the bucket, even if you drain it out, it would take forever to dry out, some of the roots would die, some remain alive, and a lot of it will rot. I'm sure having your buds still attached to rotting root ball can only end badly. But who knows, someone may chime in to say that they've been doing it that way for years.

This might be too much small work on a small stalk. Here's a snippet from the forest service about cutting the cambium layer around a tree trunk, notching.
Notching involves
cutting
a deep
ring
through the bark and a half-inch or more into the sapwood, completely encircling a
tree
. This method
will
halt the flow of nutrients and water from the roots to the crown of the
tree
and
will kill
the
tree
quickly.

Roots would dry up and die. This dead plant material would attract mold, bacteria, and other pests. Removing the desirable parts of the plant from the undesirable parts ensures a clean pest free final product.

YYCannabis i was just able to get online to read this cornucopia of creativity but....to get to your post about cats......🤪

cut your stems so there are individual buds on each length of stem. Keep them several inches apart to insure airflow and you will be much better off as you have some nice dense fat buds and you’ll need every bit of the week. I also have my greatest successes by wet trimming, cutting of the buds trying to keep any of them smaller than 3” in length for the bigger fat ones and just covering the bottom of brown paper grocery bags for 5-6 days. Each day I rattle the bags to ‘stir’ up the contents. I then will jar and burp for several weeks and eventually toss a boveda 62 in each jar. And once again....thank you D.A.A.S.69 for detailing this drying technique 👍

I hadn’t thought too much about the root waste causing problems but does make some sense.

My thinking was leaving the plant upright so excess water can drain back down the stalk versus upside down drying where excess water is being pulled into the smaller secondary stems and branches.

Notching trees is something I’m familiar with as we did it on the farm many yrs back. I wonder if it would work the same way with cannabis. Has anybody tried it? I’m sure by now some lumberjack pothead has tried 🤣

Hey everyone, I was just kidding around, teasing Gingerbeard. I didn't mean to confuse you with my twisted sense of humor. I deleted all my comments. Peace and love to all.

Oh ok, i didn't know it was teasing since i was getting called out on blast for some reason. Glad to know!

The main problem you are going to be fighting is mold. You would be more likely to get mold if you dont separate the buds but theoretically it can work. Especially if you are in a dry climate. If you are in a humid climate i would not do it this way as you will be even more likely to get mold. Most plants i think would be ok if you dried this way but since cannabis has wet buds instead of skinned fruits, mold is going to be an issue, hence the cutting branches and drying with good air flow.

Gosh. Me too. I'm not a cat hater. I'm a Devils Advocate. I'll play one side against the other. I've taken care of sick cats because no animal deserves to suffer for three words, "I don't understand." More to the story of those three words.
Whatever I say about... them... is purely puerile and mostly harmless.
Kisses, alltatup

Damn, I could read the sarcasm in those posts and they were getting funny but as we all should know, sometimes when you just read printed words without the interpretation of vocal clues, inflection and tone, they can take on a different meaning rather easily. I’ve learned this early on but now I’m too old to give a shit 🤯

Great points. No one should really take anything too seriously. That’s my prerogative. Say what you will, I left my feelings off line. 😂
