DIY pest repellent/killer

Hi folks. First time posting. I’ve grown in the past but this time I’m trying outdoors. I’ve read articles about using neem oil and dish soap as a DIY pest repellent. Has anyone tried this? I’m concerned about my flower tasting different. Any other ideas? Thanks
