Cuba

I've only been once, a bunch of us went Bass Fishing in Cuba , back around 1978. Beautiful place, only local folks we met were involved in fishing.
It is pretty in Cuba, clear water in their fresh water lakes, nice size Bass.
ps- oh yeah, I forgot to mention that we got to see one hellava fight between 2 Cubans about 20years old, over shooting a game of snooker. Them boys can fight like hell.
You can damn near see Cuba, from the end of A1A. We've been there a bunch of times.

I have a number of friends that have. Some that have been going for 25 years or so, thru Mexico, which doesn't stamp your passport when they see you are continuing on to Havana.
Everybody I knows loves the place. Music, food, culture, ambiance, best old American cars outside of Finland, etc.
Prior to the current restrictions, you had to qualify as one of 12 categories of visitor to go. Tourist is NOT on the list. So be a researcher or journalist working on a project. Researcher is a wider category and can include research for a novel or work of fiction. Another favorite is anything medical if you can swing that. They have a vaccine for lung cancer, that our government won't acknowledge. Obviously we don't have any citizens that could benefit from that.
