Sockfilter No more edibles for me, thank you very much. I just harvested in November, was growing 8 strains, and I decided to eat some of the trim in around the second week of flower. As far as I was concerned, all I was doing was eating some dark leafy greens like kale, spinach, watever. I was sure that there wouldn't be any psychoactive effect, and boy was I wrong. I got high as heck all day, couldn't believe how high I got. No one was really able to explain to me the potency of the leaves in the second week of flower; I think there's a total gap in the research at this point.
So I kept freezing bags of sticky trim, giving it to friends who'd eat it in the morning and stay high as heck all day. When I harvested, I took all the fresh trim and dried it, took the frozen stuff out and dried it, and made a tincture that I call 8 ball (for the 8 strains).

I read a bunch of different websites, because there's a lot of misinformation out there, so I compare to get the most accurate data. I also purchased a decarb machine, which I think is the key to unlocking all sorts of amazing cannabis mysteries. Because once it's been perfectly decarbed, no more heat need be used to make oils, tinctures, etc. I decarbed all of my harvest after initial drying, and it smells incredible. I put it in jars with Bovedas. Like flash-drying fresh flowers: the terpenes are so strong, no degradation whatsoever.
I haven't tried oils yet, because I kind of want to avoid the whole "first pass" metabolism thing. I read this article
http://profofpot.com/11-hydroxy-tetrahydrocannabinol-potency-edibles/
on what happens to THC when it goes thru the liver, and I realized that's what happened to me when I had a bad edibles experience back in '06 or '07. Just like you described: a friend and I baked some herb, ate it mixed with honey, nothing happened, had another tablespoon each. Nothing happened, so I went home and went to bed. I woke up so high and stayed so high all day... uncomfortably, dizzily, disorientatedly high. I remember what a relief it was when I knew that it was really wearing off.
It's true that I swallow my tincture after holding it under my tongue for at least a minute, but by that time I don't think there's much good stuff left in it.
That is a Golden Orb aka Banana spider, they flourish where I live and I adore them. I have one now who wove her web right by my back door so she's staring me right in the face when I leave in the morning. I put up a sign DO NOT BOTHER MY PET SPIDER for the delivery people.
