Calcium Uptake / Root Terperature?

Flockshot

New member
I am 2 weeks in to veg and am seeing what will quickly be a Cal Mag deficiency. My first coco grow so I am being sure to use Cal Mag at 5ml (1 tsp) per gallon (and now more than that).

My weak link has been that the plants are in a cold (64F) room, however with the T5 running 24/7 my plant canopy temperature has been consistently sitting a 77F.

My question is, since the T5 only sends out it's heat a short distance, could my roots be too cold for good calcium uptake, or is root temperature not related to calcium at all?

P. S. I have already taken steps to warm the room to at least 70F.

That fresh in the cycle with new coco I am betting it is bad ph showing up...it's just the medium adjusting to the ph water you are giving it...it will soon balance out and be okay...calmag always good tho.

I always rinse my coco at least one good time with lots of ph water....it works...I just make up my pots and water them as if a plant were in there...let dry do again

It won't always work 100% sometimes I get very minor signs still...for about a day or two....I never pay attention to it anymore...

I rinsed 20 gal of coco, with 40 gal of water PH to 6.0 with CalMag. Then added 33% perlite and let it rest for a week. Now I am in 1 gal so changes can be fast and relatively easy. Your thoughts make sense so I will just watch the PH and keep good temps. Thanks.

CONCLUSION:
I don't believe that the room temperature had anything to do with my calcium problem.
My problem was that I was bubbling my water before adding nutrients and therefore recording a higher PH number than the water would have, after the bubbles (and extra oxygen) was removed for a while. So when I watered a 6.0 PH, I was actually watering with a lower PH. Add to that a bit of over feeding, and my calcium uptake stopped.
Thanks to those who helped.
