Autoflower or regular?

What would you suggest for a late season outdoor growth? Autoflower or regular femminised seeds?
I was thinking, shouldn't a regular plant have almost the same growing time as an autoflower, if we plant it in august/september? The difference being the fact that autos usually require 18 hours of light or so.
If planting oudoor, wouldn't an auto suffer from the short light period?

Pretty much what you said is the case. You would need to plant the auto's earlier so that it would flower during the longest days, which is around june for northen hemisphere and december for southern.

When you plant, you will have X number of days left in your growing season. You need a plant that will finish in that many days. Auto or Photo doesn't matter. Only the number of days limits your choices.

That's hard to say for me too.
Climate changes bring too much chaos. Last winter for example we had sunny days and summer time for two months.
This summer we got acid rains and hard storms from may since now. I'm confident it will frost as late as possible.. but we never know. So I focused on hours of light.
