Air layering - easy peasy

After several failed attempts at cloning using the typical methods, I decided to try air layering. Worked on my first try. Didn't use Sphagnum moss - just a rapid rooter, cloneX, cereal box liner, and aluminum foil.

Lots of hits on Google, but short answer is: cloning while the cutting is still attached to the mother plant. One tip I found that isn't in all the videos was to make sure you include a branch node. That person noticed that all of his clones developed roots there first. I didn't actually try to cut the cambium and instead just held the knife perpendicular to the stem and just scratched back and forth all around down to the cambium.

Nice, and I agree it’s a cool idea. Glad it worked out for you. I was wondering why the clone looked so huge. Now I see said the blind man.

Include a branch node in the wrapping where the medium is or above the wrapping?

in the wrapping. Apply the cloneX around the node (after scratching away the outer layer) and wrap there.

How long did it take, from the initial scraping/wrapping to cutting the clone from the mother?
