1st time grower

  • Hello fellow growers! I am a first time grower. I have experimented and researched a lot. I started out with some rag weed seeds that I picked up from a local. I started about 8 plants not knowing if they would be good or what. I purchased a grow room box and lights and the extras. I also got the Marijuana Grow Bible which I found to be somewhat outdated for Led lights. And it turns out, I found out more info from the web but the book gave me what I should be looking for I guess.
I got burned by a cheap LED light, it was total crap and barely put off any light, luckily I returned it! Man do they lie about what they actually put out! Then I realized that if you buy regular LED bulbs, like a 100w, and take the plastic bulb cover off, presto, grow light! So I took a 2 cheap bathroom lights and made me 2 more grow lights.

They turned out pretty good and are bright as hell and perfect for seedling and veg stage. I was unsure about using them for flowering...any help on that? Like should I change them to yellow and reds instead of the blue light?

I used all sorts of soil types to start out with. 1st soil, it was terrible, no air at all. added perlite, that it it some what better but now the magic mix is perlite/coco coir/organic soil/worm castings/dolomite lime they thrive in it! Well at least whatever seeds I had love it. However, I didn't think about cloth bags until after I started the flowering stage. Now "George" is in a 3 gallon bucket, which now that I look at her, I think it may be too small but I can't move her now, right?
Well I also wanted to ask, I decided at some point to start taking my plants outside to "harden" them off...but now wonder is it a bad thing? It's getting hot out now. I take her out most days from like 12pm to 4pm. I can hide her just enough in my yard where she is not noticeable. Should I keep doing that until it's time to harvest? I only do it on perfect sunny days, no rainy days or cloudy days. She really seems to like but I don't want her to get trashed over me being greedy. I mean I swear every time I take her out she grows an inch if not 2!

Here is George, I did all the suggested things of topping/bending.

I was pretty impressed with myself with the topping. That was awesome! So glad I did it!! But all of the other plants seemed weak at week 5 so I cut out 5 of them. And had like 3 left. Then I realized of the bat, GW was a male so I immediately took him out. Then Alice should her ugly balls along with colas. So she turned hermie on me and I got rid of her too. RIP Alice.
    Nutrients.....
I started out using 12x12x12. It was a terrible idea! Then searched the web and found GrowBox Organic stuff.
They seemed to really like it at 1st but then it tampered off and they looked hungry for something. Then I found Monty's Organic mix which made them boom when I started flowering stage! And then I found TripleSuperPhosphorus and Hi Yield Potash and woooh daddy!!! George loves it. Then I read I still need small traces of other minerals those may not be providing so I decided to mix somethings to get what I want. Now here is my fert during flowering or rather what I am using until I jack it up per gallon:

    2 tsp TripleSuperPhosphorus
1 tsp Hi Yield Murate of Potash
    1 tsp BioBud
    1 tsp BioRoot
    1 tsp BioMarine
1/4 tsp urea ( read it can be potent so taking it slow)
I mix it up and let it sit a day or too and then shake it real good before I water her.

I'm like a mad scientist with it, so please any advice is appreciated!!! Right now I think my room is too hot but idk the temps people say for flowering is all over but I am at about 73 degrees with about 47% humidity that's with my room open, closed it gets as hot as 81 degrees in there which I don't care for. I keep the air circulating pretty good so it's not stagnant. Below is a good pic of my room. It's a 4x4. Also, dang, I think I may run out of room, her height is getting close to light limits. Thoughts? Oh yeah, anyone know what this is? I'm guessing white widow...?

  • Also, should I prune more or leave as is? I was trying to open the middle up and branch out like a hand but now it's crazy wild.

Looks good to me its spread out lights getting in ,unless they get really filled in I try to do two defoles one in veg around week 4 or 5 then again at week 3 in bloom makes a Hugh difference

I don't mix up my nutes until I use them , so I read your post good job , I try to ask one thing at a time it gives us a chance to focus on a specific problem instead of jumping around hey maybe its just me lol

No way to know what she is. But otherwise looks good. How far away are your lights and how much higher can you go. But yes still looks like you got some more stretch left to go.

Awesome ok, its good to see I am headed in the right direction. My lights are only about 24" away. I just recently raised them again since she is moving up so fast. Any thoughts on going outside and inside? Should I keep it up or stop?

I laughed out loud on that one!! I won't hold it against a jarhead for not reading!! LOL Go Army!! Nice set up btw :-)

Lol, no worries here, I didn't take it that way. I thought you were saying jarhead means marines and that i was saying go army. lol!! I'm scared of marines!! Now I'm high and confused bllahahaha

being called a jarhead is not an insult to me by any vet , it wasn't about reading it was about being blind lol, as I get older I experience a lot of things that are really quite alarming and make you feel your age ,instead of being depressed I make lite of them and give everyone a chuckle i'm glad you enjoyed it

I really enjoy the joking between services especially the navy I love to joke with them about the corps being a department of the Navy they almost always bite and say thats right and I come back with its the mens department lol and I've mellowed over the years

I didnt mean he insulted you by calling you a jarhead. I meant it appeared to me he called you exArmy. Nothing against army just a Marine is A MARINE.
