Hi,

First time here, alot of good information thanks in advance.

Starting my first grow, I am limited to 6 plants indoor.

Right now i have an 8x8 gorilla tent and 2 900 watt led lights. I will be starting seeds seeds.

Looking for advice on what to grow in, dirt or hydro.

I chose the seeds below based on high thc and high yields from what i read, Thoughts?

I have a great basement to grow in, 10 foot cielings and tons of space.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

I say coco. The reason is that I believe that it is your best chance for a healthy grow from start to finish. You will make some mistakes and coco is the easiest to control and fix. My 2c.
 
It all depends on your growing style. If you're a partisan of controlling everything, I would advise Hydro. If you want to control everything but have some "earthy" taste to your weed, I'd say coco. If you want to do little work, i'd say supersoil.
I'm a new grower, so this, i just read online. I'm growing supersoil, outdoor. Take what I said with a hint of salt ^^
 
Welcome - I might add that there is a bit less of an up front investment for soil or coco and less set up. You can always switch to Hydro later but if you do hydro and want to switch to soil you will be out the start up. That being said almost no one switches to soil from hydro because it produces better yields. A soil or coco grow is also more portable and a bit easier to experiment with when starting a new grow room. I grow in Fox Farm soil and have very good results. You also don't have to be very knowledgeable about nutrients in the beginning with soil. With Coco and Hydro you need to add all the nutrients. If you want to use organic nutrients (earth worm castings, guano, etc.) you will want to use soil or coco.
 
Most hydroponic nutrients are fertilizer salts which dissolve easily in water and contain a precise amount of the nutrient. Technically some of these salts can be made "organically" but most are not. Most organic nutes are bio-matter. (guano, sea weed, earthworm castings, blood meal, bone, etc.) These do not dissolve easily in water and release various amounts of the intended nutrient. The non-dissoluble parts muddy the water and can provide a food source for unwanted microbes.

I think you sold me on dirt.

Where is a good place to get super soil, and what brand are people useing?
 
I personally do a 50/50 mix of coco coir and perlite. I find it to be the most forgiving, easily obtainable, and great for beginners and experts alike. It let's you have control like a hydro environment via nutes and supplements. But at the same time has some of the best soil learning experiences. Such as watering schedules, using a growing medium, dealing with too wet/too dry soil. It also can be flushed quickly in case of accidents with nutes, I enjoy the fact that I get fast growth rates. You can also use hydro nutes, or organic nutes when you use coir.

Or you could buy, but I cannot help with that, sorry.
 
I personally use Fox Farm Ocean Forest that I buy at a hydroponics store actually. Any good potting soil is ok but be careful not to buy one with fertilizer already mixed in like Miracle Grow. They often contain slow release fertilizers that are not a good fit for cannabis.
 
I'm using Kind Soil on my first grow and I'm loving it so far. D.A.A.S.69 is also a fan, I know. You can get it on Amazon but I would recommend buying direct because a) cheaper shipping and b) they deserve every penny vs a cut of it going to Amazon. (Nothing against Amazon.)

Be sure to read the instructions on their website because some of it directly contradicts what you read on GWE (the big one is not to water to runoff). When there's a contradiction I follow the Kind Soil instructions -- I figure they know their own product better than anyone else!
 
When it says doesnt require and light cycle changes does that mean you leave 18-6 whole time?

I agree with Aloner , KindSoil is the easy way to grow xCardplayer all you have to do is add water that is the right PH. It's got everything already in it. Just need pots an a PH meter. And water like the instructions say. Kinda like the old saying the soil is richer than 2 foot up a hogs ass. You will do good with it for your first grow super simple. Good luck you've got plenty of good help here on GWE.
 
Yeah you leave it on the same cycle and it'll flower. Compared to photo's that will NEED a change in light cycle from +12/14 hours (it might flower with this kind of hours, better put it on 16 minimum actually) of light per day to 12/12 hours of light/darkness (when you switch to that, it'll start flowering, switch it back again to 18/6 for instance, and it'll re-veg (possible, but stressful for the plant))
Be aware that it might take a bit longer than what the seedbank advised. Maybe 2 weeks more. Mine will take a month more because they were stunted somehow. (not good with an autoflower!)

I plan on useing 20 gallon pots, do i really need 20 pounds of KindSoil?
 
Damn dude your planing on growing pot ain't you. I'm growing in 3 gallon SmartPot s without any problems. Might go to 5 gallons next time cause I already have the pots. Forgot to tell you while ago to look up KindSoil and read all about it .It is good stuff though ,why such big pots ? That fruit punch sounds good. Forgot your question, you only fill half your pot with KindSoil on the bottom. You can use whatever you want on the top, I'm using FFOF, read KindSoil's website, they suggest different types you can choose from. All I know is I have not had one single problem with ,plus you don't have to buy nutrients and such .just water ,you can use the water you have at your house just make sure the PH is right. You will like it.

Im trying to get the most i can with the laws that i have. I figure 6 plants in a 8x8 room with 2 p900w lights should be able to do some damage. Im trying to leearn as much as i can wile i wait for every thing to come in. Want to start with a good foundation. I am greatful we have this comunity willing to share their knowledge.
 
Sounds like your set up ,most folks around here use 3 or 5 gallon pots ,they don't take up room in your tent ,your gonna have to get in there an water em, 20 gallon pots take up room. Unless your rich KindSoil might not be what you want then. It's kinda expensive , but worth it ,at least to me. Good luck
