How long does it take for mold to start?

Coming up on harvest AND short trip out of town (4 days). I have been watching trichomes but just starting to see a few amber and leaving town in two weeks. I like 10% amber but of course she is on her own time table. If I harvest this weekend and dry for 4 days (that's about how long others have taken to dry) that will give me about a week of burping jars before leaving. Can mold show up in 4 days? I plan to add boveda packs before leaving. My other option is to wait until day before leaving (and maybe more amber than I prefer) and dry unsupervised for 4 days. It all depends on when she is ready. I don't feel comfortable burping jars a couple of days before leaving for fear of mold. Does anyone have experience with mold and how quickly it can start?

Could you do everything like you said but when you leave or whatever Open them up and put something like paper towel over the top instead of the lid

Yea, I saw other folks talking about that on another thread. Do you think that would allow enough air movement and not dry too much? I would really hate to have four months the go down the tube! 😐

I just come up with thoughts. They have not been proven in practice yet. You need an old pro

Don't add the 62% packs too soon, wait till the buds cure to 62% then add packs.

PuravidaC Damn, it's just such a pain the way life can interfere with our grows!!!

I agree with above suggestion to leave jars open. I did that on last cure, left the lid on top but propped up against wall so that a slit of air could get through. I let my last batch of dry ice hash sit like that for a while (longer than 4 days) until it smelled perfect (no grassy odor).

And I agree not to put in Bovedas yet. Too early. If you know how your humidity is going to be, you can gauge how much to leave lids cracked. That way mositure will escape, but not too quickly.

Pura 4 days should be plenty to dry them down to 62% once there they can be stored with no danger of mold I weigh out 100 grams then dry it hanging until its at 30 to 25 grams that will give you around 70 % that you should be able to burp down to 62 just leave your jars open for about a half hour instead of opening and closing them .when you come back you can resume burping until they are where you want them

Curious as to what you decided to do? I too am leaving in a week for a week and I just jarred mine! They are maintaining pretty good right now but a full week! I don't know what I'm going to do. Take it with me? Seems like a bad idea

If I harvest this weekend that will give me about a week into curing too. I feel fairly certain humidity in jars will be around 60% after the first week of burping jars and I will add boveda packs to jars while gone. I know some say not to add boveda packs too soon but I have had good results using them. But GWE also says oxygen is needed for cure too. Damn, this is mind bending!!! Hoping this harvest will be too! 😎

PuravidaC Jeg How about bovedas AND leave the jar lids cracked ever so slightly?

I'm not sure I can get them here in time. Only one of my jars is being stubborn. The other two are doing great
