I think I've come up with a plan to transplant autos with out stunting.I am growing six autos outside, thier in two gal.smart pots from what I here there too small!!!! For the root system anyway I'm going to put my two gal. Pots inside four gal. Pots not disturbing plants at all!!!! What do ya think, if roots are comming thru looking for more room to grow y not give it to them? Any thoughts or opinions on this or if anybody else has tried please let me know.As always all replies are met with gradatude thanks.

as long as you give the roots a way to get from the small pot to the larger one no problemnew grow room built summer of 2017 ,argo max tent for veging ,big kahuna reflector, 1000hps with added leds for the full spectrum . 15th indoor grow ,5 years outside gorilla grows(stealth is the key),veg under t5s growing autos under 300w leds

Great thing about smart pots, the roots will grow out and get aerated. This happens occasionally using my 2 and 3 gallon pots, usually right before harvest they start popping through, if you already have roots coming through DO NOT take it out of the smart pot and transplant it, you will shock it hard by damaging the roots which are stuck to the pot. you could possibly put the smart pot in a bigger pot surrounded by soil (a pot in a pot). In my experience the roots growing outside of pot isnt a bad thing, i figure its a good thing lol

the concept of the smart pots are that the roots will self prune when they hit the air yes they will grow though but I think the roots that do die off or turn back I'm not positive about this but I did read it somewhere I think your idea of one pot in the other will work but personally I think I would make slits in the first pot but Im not there to see it sonew grow room built summer of 2017 ,argo max tent for veging ,big kahuna reflector, 1000hps with added leds for the full spectrum . 15th indoor grow ,5 years outside gorilla grows(stealth is the key),veg under t5s growing autos under 300w leds

yea usually bigger pots means bigger yields but if it isnt filling the pot then youre wasting in a way. Also when my roots grow out of pots they dont die? they actually stay alive and keep coming out of my pots untill harvest? I cant find any pictures of it but ill try take some in a month or so when they are there :P

it used to be thought that people couldn't top and train autos. Now look at what growers like Green75 are doing when they top and train theirs. Obviously they have to read their plants and watch their reaction but I wonder if it will turn out that autos can in fact be normally transplanted successfully when also done correctly and not have adverse effects.
Maybe another experiment for green one day down the trackCompleted auto grows 3
