What is the relationship to temperature and bud formation? Will the higher temperatures that are conducive to good growth damage the potency of the plant? What is the highest temperature recommended for growing during the flowering.

Temperature in relationship to flowering

Hi Bonzo, I live in Southern California and my small tent is on the second floor so I've struggled with hot temps quite a bit. Ultimately, different strains handle temperature extremes differently. I try very hard to keep my tent under 90F. Apparently if you hit the mid 90s then the THC can start to burn off.
In early flowering a plant shouldn't react to temperature any differently from its veg period. However, once you hit mid flower (maybe 4 weeks in) I find that my weed plants start getting "finicky". If possible I think getting down under 85F in late flowering is best, maybe even 75-80 would be ideal.
Temperature and humidity interact too, with more humidity your plant can cool itself better and thus potentially handle greater temps (although too much humidity can reverse this process!). This said, in late flower you want to drop humidity to aid resin production if you can so I guess that's another reason to keep a grow tent cooler at this time.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the canopy temp and the ambient temp may be different. One of these days I'm going to get one of those laser spot temp meters.Sand, sea, sun, sausages, and sinsemilla.
About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won't like you at all.

It's too bad you couldn't get giant mirrors and pump the sunlight underground words cool. The other option is to put up a half of an acre of photovoltaic cells this eventually would pay for itself although they are getting cheaper every day good luck and test the temperature underground

If we are talking photoperiod plants then you want to have your temps about 82f during the 3 weeks of stretch to maximize bud formation- after that, reducing it to 78 degrees will help bud development and retain the terpenes.
And yes, using the canopy or leaf temp is really helpful, as you can have hot temperatures and a plant will maintain lower temps. It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!
