New guy, first grow attempt with hemp bag seed

I got some seeds from some hemp I ordered and it's claimed to be Acapulco Gold. I figured what the heck, let me see if they sprout. I did the paper towel thing and a few did in fact sprout so I got a few pots out of the shed, put some extra raised bed soil in them and just stuck the sprouts in. They popped on 5 July, the day before my shoulder surgery. I've actually become fascinated watching them grow to the point I figured I might as well keep going. I initially fertilized them with some garden liquid stuff we use and saw what appears to be some decent growth.

Last week was HOT, and I realized I should move them off the concrete since it was over 110. I believe that is what caused the browning down low and since moving them around in the grass they seem to be responding well to that. Yea, I know I need to trim the grass but I'm not quite there yet.

I've started looking to see when they might show their gender and as far as I can tell, I have yet to see nads. I ordered the three pack of Fox Farm as recommended on the web site and started using the veg one yesterday afternoon.

This was spur of the moment thinking and I'm thinking about trying to get serious next spring and I'm thinking about ordering some seeds from Seed Supreme and stashing them in my wine cooler where I keep my product.

I'm thinking that I should trim the blight and keep going. I'm also considering perhaps topping one or two to see how that goes in a way to try and keep them from growing into trees because my state is not legal. I do have a secure back yard and no one can see into it so if I do go for the real deal next year keeping them below six feet would be preferably the best bet.

As for next year, the planting would likely be late June because we RV for two or more months in the spring. Considering that timing, is it plausible that I could get a good crop in? I have no desire for an indoor grow so mine would be outdoors only. Located central midwest.

Any tips would be appreciated from this old guy. I have three neighboring states but one is med, the closest rec their weed sucks and the other rec state is a long drive so I usually stock up when we are in the west and southwest every year.

    Thank you.

Considering your time line, auto flowers might be best for you,,most strains are seed to harvest in 90-120 days, back right is an auto flower, she's going to be harvested in a week or so Click image for larger version

I agree with gator autos probably your best bet you could try some of the fast bloom which are technically a photo they could finish 1-2 weeks of October. That being said if you have outdoor lights in your backyard or street lights near by that could cause problems with the photo.

Decent grow for little effort. Watch for the males and the Man. He will Jack you, lol. Doing time is easy but not as easy as growing weed.

          Hi, Stoned Boomer.
A mid 70's fellow boomer here. I would plan your grow and skip the bag seed. Try some fast flowering autos. Your biggest concern is the illegality of your state. Peruse various sites using a VPN for tips on how to hide your outside grow. If Officer Friendly gets tipped off on your plants, it could cost you $1000's in attorney's fees, fines plus meeting a new cell mate. Also, look for articles on how your local city's and county's DA's and courts treat cultivation charges. Some may be more lenient, others righteous drug warriors eagar to rid society of our wicked kind.
I live in a legal state. My county is lenient on minor cultivation violations for personal use. I'd spend more time on quick seed to harvest strains and how to camouflage the plants. Not telling you what to do. Just suggesting detailed planning.

Thank you everyone for the replies. As far as the legal aspect, I have a sheriff deputy who live across the street and a house down. I've spoken with him about smelling weed and he has no problem with it. He's riding out his last 3 to 4 years with the department in the county offender registration office after being on the streets and a detective. He told me his renter neighbors toke up all the time and they know what he does for a living. The city I live in is a no cite for personal use and has been like a few others in the state. I asked my long time friend and past business partner who is an attorney, he does defense, estate, and real estate and other fields and he takes public defender cases on rotation what the law would do for growing a few plants. He said the city no longer prosecutes personal possession and use but he will check with his other defense buddies on the grow and let me know.

I believe I now have enough growth to tell gender and I'll post updated photos below. It sounds like I should for sure go with autos and I do have a decent dark back yard. One exception is I have small garden solar lights around our garden in the back but they are not too bright as far as I know but, they could be the culprit to a couple of plants going to flower already. At least why my brother thinks they are flowering.

I'm going to place an order for seeds for next year from Seed Supreme based on what I've read and been told here and see what happens. To be honest, if I get a 1/4 out of a plant that would hold me over for quite some time as I'm a lite consumer.

These are what I've named the twin sisters. I'm pretty sure they are girls as my brother and a friend of his who is in a legal state that grows say.

The tall one I'm not sure but the two runts might be girls, I'm not sure though.

This single one I believe took a hit from being on the concrete and also being in the black pot with the 100+ direct sun. I have since placed it in the brown pot to help keep the sun off the pot and hopefully not bake the roots. Not sure if the gender is showing yet.

Lately I have been putting them on the table as soon as the sun gets over the east six foot fence and then later placing them in the grass for the rest of the day. This morning I noticed the twins improving. Fascinating. Thinking I might start feeding the twins with the super bloom food. Should I do that now or wait? The two tall ones look like they might be boys and as soon as I see nads, they are getting chopped.
