COCO COIR Making Coco Coir - Low Yield?

I made a batch of Coco Coir for the first time, following Nebula’s instructions at https://www.growweedeasy.com/coco-co...o-coir-perlite – the only thing I did differently was I added in the “double buffer” steps from https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/how-...r/#howtobuffer. However, I ended up with about two thirds of the expected amount of growing medium, and had to rehydrate and buffer a third brick to get enough to fill three 3-gallon fabric pots. Is this normal?

I double-checked the amounts of materials that I used for the first batch (two 650g bricks, one 8-quart bag of pearlite), so that was not the issue. I used a different brand of brick – could that have made a difference?

    Hi.
I love growing in 50/50 coco/perlite and think the cocoforcannabis site is one of the better ones out there.
I would guess that the lower than expected volume of coco coir is simply a function of the manufacturer and possibly the compression force used to make their bricks.
It's no big deal. Simply mix the rehydrated coco and perlite together to get the percentage mix (70/30, 50/50) you want to grow in.
