What are some tips on growing weed indoors?

I'm amped. My seeds just came in the mail and I'm about to start my first cannabis grow. But before I plant the seeds, do you all have any advice for someone who is growing weed for the first time? Like any tips you wish you had known when you started growing.

My plan for my first grow:

I saw a few other growers in the GWE forum get good results with this setup with a 200W Spider Farmer LED in a 2x4 tent. So that's what I got. My goal is to harvest 5+ oz on my first grow with 4 plants. That means I'd only need 1-2 ounces per plant to hit my goal. I think that's possible.

I ordered seeds from this page, and I'm stoked they came in just 5 days. I figured I'd have to wait weeks to start before getting the seeds, but now I'm thinking I might germinate the seeds this weekend. I kinda went crazy on a seed sale and bought a ton of strains and I still need to decide which ones to grow first.

I feel so nervous and excited. I've grown mushrooms before but this feels so much bigger. It's going to save me a ton of money if it works.

What happened on your first grow? Any germination tips or other beginner tips?

My 1st grow had more mistakes than things done right-used MG soil, overwatered, not enuff light (window grow) no air movement, used a seed co. that charged my debit card $500 to a betting site and thats just the highlights. My advice is to read EVERYTHING on GWE then read it again. its alot easier when you know how to prevent a prob. than to try and fix it. Ethos is supposed to have good genetics so you shud have a good start. once again, go thru the old newsletters, tons of good info

I've been trying to read everything on growweedeasy.com. Somehow I always end up with 10 tabs open. But I think I'm slowly starting to absorb the main ideas. I wish they'd had something like this for mushrooms when I started.

You are already a step ahead of me. I found this place after I realized my first grow was having issues.
Focus on the basics. Temps, RH, PH, EC/PPM, ventilation, lighting. If you provide a good environment you'll meet your harvest goals.
You're using coco, that's good. Follow the recommended feed schedule. The coco should be moist all the time. It is very difficult to over water with it.
Invest in quality equipment. I'd recommend a PH pen. I use BlueLab equipment, but there are others that get great reviews.
Grow photos your first run. That will give you time to make any adjustments.
Keep a log of your grows, your watering schedule, etc. You'll regret it if you don't. This is especially helpful for pharming while stoned.

Yes I've decided on coco. I'm going with the GH nutrients at 1/2 strength on the bottle. It's become clear to me that environment and pH may be the most important points. Almost every grower I've talked to mentions them. I'm surprised how important pH seems to be. It's hard to believe, but I know that growing things isn't always intuitive.

"This is especially helpful for pharming while stoned." This is extremely relatable to me. I know I've killed mushrooms back in the day from "checking on them" while in the midst of tripping on the last batch.

Wannabe, please chill. Growing pot is not much different than growing tomatoes. The real difference is the psychological anxiety we create by over analyzing it. GWE is one of the very best grow sites out there. Just go back and read the tutorials Nebula and Sirius have put together, follow their recommendations and start your grow. You'll be fine. Your plants will be fine. Really.

In general, read the GWE site information. I didn't have that when I started. Start a spread sheet to keep track of the grow, Keep humidity in check, if growing in coco get the pH correct, use a quality light. Four photos in a 2x4 is overload. It will turn into a jungle and choke on the lack of room. Temper your expectations. Goals are nice, murphy has a way of disrupting your planning. Nothing beats experience, after the grow is done reflect on what went right and what went wrong and use that to plan the next grow. Store your unused beans in a cool dark place, a tightly closed mason jar in the fridge is ideal.
Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

You think 4 plants is too much even if I initiate 12/12 early? I love the idea of 4 different strains but I also don't want to set myself up for failure.

I am a spreadsheet person and that idea intrigues me. How did you set up your spreadsheet with the cells at the top? Like Date | Nutrients | How Much Water | PH | Environment | Notes. Something like that?

Imo 4 photo plants are to much for a 2x4, why would you flip early just to make them smaller? 4 different strains are more difficult than one. Sometimes nute requirements are different and the plant sets the time to do things. For the spread sheet, I use date in left column, then a day counter, week counter, nute week counter, temp & humidity, light intensity and distance, nute formula, notes, pix if you want. Select what you want, it is easy to get information overload, then information gets cluttered.

Need to get one of these. Easier to hand water you don’t have to lean over so far…helps us old cats out.

Is that a giant funnel so you pour water down it to the plants? I hadn't thought about how to water them yet. Where did you get it?

Welcome wannabeagrower. I only have 2 suggestions. If this is your first grow, let them grow without any training. Just so you can see how the plant grows, and the other thing is patience. Lots of patience.

My best advice is don't panic! I was told that when I first started but didn't listen. Anxiety set in. Cannabis is a very resilient plant when fed right and grown n the proper conditions. I did that on my first two grows. "Oh, a brown spot, it must need this." Or how about "Omg, my lower fans are yellowing must be lock out or nitrogen deficiency." "Root rot, must be root rot." I bought so much crap I didn't need it wasn't funny. Before you start adding stuff to fix a problem, make sure it's a problem first......

…and just post your worries here before you take actions. The experienced growers will tell you what’s the cause… 😎

Get your environment right and focus on watering correctly. Use a proven nute system, follow it exactly and resist the urge to tinker AT ALL.
Most of the time people cause more problems with adding this or that when the root problem is watering or environment
KIS mix organic living soil from Black Sallow soils in 7gal. pots
Black Swallow Organic Bloom mix top dress before flower.
Reusing soil with Black Swallow nutrient pack between grows
          Maybe some compost teas
