    Cloning problems

I’ve got the tops from a set of plants that I’m trying to clone and set to flowering mode so I can tell if they’re male or females. I took the clippings, dipped in rooting powder, then right into spring water. They’re getting 18/6 light, 78-80 degrees temp. & 75% humidity. They’ve been in for a week and they were growing good and vibrant but in the past couple of days the upper leaves have been yellowing and cupping.
Does anyone know what could be happening?

    Hi, Slytiger.
I am not a cloning expert, but would guess that you have too much foliage for a rootless clipping to support. My own experience is to strip off all but the top leaves and then cut off the top half of these remaining leaflets. This greatly reduces the vegetative material the clipping has to support while roots are forming. I'd look up GWE's cloning tutorial for further guidance. I have have successfully cloned cuttings in a solo cup on my kitchen table doing it this way.

The plant is eating itself due to no roots. Once roots form they will perk up, but I cut the "mother" leaves as soon as the clone starts growing it's own leaves. With clones it is a race to grow roots before the leaves are used up.
Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

        I agree with the others.

Am almost foolproof method is to use an aeroponics bucket. Easy and cheap to make yourself and 100% success rate is typical.
        Flower Room: 11' x 7' x 7.5'H, 480w AC, 13gal/day dehumidifier, 1.5gal ultrasonic humidifier, 60gal (27gal usable) nute tank, 16" pedestal fan & 18" wall fan. Lighting and climate automated. Hand watering.
Veg Cupboards: Two 4x2x6H cupboards. SF2000 Evo in one SF7000 in other. Climate controlled and automated. Hand watering
Aeroponics Low Pressure Bucket: 20W LED. 5 clones & 20W LED 11 clones
Lights: Mars Hydro FC-E1200W, SF-7000, SF-2000 evo in flower room.
Medium: Coco/perlite, 7.2gal pots, no drains
Current Grow: 5 x Photos Franklin's Orange Zkittles x Sour Diesel in flower room, 3 Franklin's White Widow x Sour Diesel Clones, 13 x Orange ZkittleZ x Sour Diesel clones in Aeroponics buckets x 2.

Thanks much for the advice, I’ll try trimming off some more leaves. Maybe re-dip in gel and put in new water. Should I use a little sea kelp?

BTW - I am following Nebula’s tutorial (guess I need to follow it more closely)🧐
